Yes it has been tried but not pursued to its logical conclusion through the appeals process. Just not worth the grief and financial cost.

The first one to follow through will set a hero precedent however.

For camera tolerances Generalisations don’t work in AU.
In SA most cameras are +5km/h. In Vic it’s closer to +2km/h.

On SA highways it can (not always) be 10%.
I didn't think the ADR's where a +/- tolerance. I was under the impression that they can only indicate a faster speed than what you are travelling up to 10% error and no indicate slow (example - 100km/h actual speed - indicated speed 110km/h is ok, 90km/h not ok)

Hence my +0/-10%. More Towing Fuel Economy with the 2.7L

Yes, up to 10% above the actual speed.
In practice, most vehicles I've checked using a GPS seem to be around 5% at 100 kmh. That's assuming the GPS is accurate, of course.
I'm told that in Qld the radar is set to ping at 3kmh above the speed limit.

Sorry, looks like I've got selective reading (kinda like selective hearing). I skimmed over the +0/-10% and read it as +/-10%. My bad

Wow! We're a bit more relaxed over here in WA. Here I generally cruise past at 107 in a 100 zone and don't get a flash. I *have* had flashes at 108, but never been sent an infringement. Of course the day I missed the change of speed sign and went past at 107 in a 90 zone I copped it!

The digital speedo I built for my Volvo is accurate to about 0.2% at 100kph, so I kinda pay attention to exactly how far I can push the boundaries. In the D3 I use the GPS speedo on the phone to tweak the cruise control settings. Not anywhere near as accurate, but still better than a waving needle.

106kmh cruise set speed on the D4 equals 101kmh on the GPS (that uses between 5 geosynchronous sattelites to fix position).
This is running std 19" rims and 55 profile tyres. Error of 5% appears consistent throughout the speed range.

Unfortunately speed cameras don't apply the same tolerances, 3%max is about it I think.

Lasy i checked Europe has 0 to 10% tolereance as std on autobahns/freeways, but much tighter in suburban and pedestrian zones where limits are say 30 or 40kmh.
