Ignored two prior warnings and got pinged on Thursday last week - 2015 D4 rotary selector stuck in drive.
Of course had to happen to my wife (37 weeks pregnant) as she tried to park 2 stories down in an underground car park. The rotary dial had previously stuck on me during a 2-month period a.) in the middle of a 3-point turn in Cenntential Park, and b.) once at the servo after filling the tank; both equally frightening, but thankfully sorted itself after some restarts/brake pedal pumps. No joy for my wife this time around.
NRMA appeared, knew the pulley-trick to pop into Neutral, and from what I gather - used a small 4x4 to tow out to street from 2 levels down. Then onto a tilt tray off to Sydney LR HQ.
$1400 parts and labour; with the catch that the part is on 6-week back-order. Given our predicament with incoming baby, and my insistence to not be car-less (apparently LR directly have no courtesy cars avail until late-June?) the engineer has offered to fit a spare, previously-broken(?) TCS module, on the assumption we come back in, in 6 weeks to have the new part fitted. I've been assured that the part is fully functional, but cannot be classed as "new" - will be interested to see what happens there...we pay the full new price, on pick-up tomorrow.
One upside is that Compass, the rental agency that provide short-term courtesy cars for folks that go through LR Assist breakdown program, asked if we wanted a similar size car; I said yes, but they could only offer a Discovery sport, which we accepted. They turned up Friday morning to deliver a 2021 RRS with 5k on the clock. Have to say, very nice, did feel nice and stiff, but my god the turning circle is a shocker!

Could you buy the selector from Paddock or Island in UK, or are they out of stock also?
