On FB and other social media I see adverts for sheets of adhesive vinyl people use to effortlessly repair couches, business chairs, motorcycle seats etc. you can buy in many colours and in small or large sheets. Always seems to be some USA or China company that posts it out to you.
I have a few small tears on the black / dark blue vinyl side of my driver and rear seats. Thought it worth a try but has any tried and found a local supplier?
Finally rewired my CB radio so that it has power to it all the time as per the advice Kelvo gave me. I had forgotten that you can move the powered seats with the ignition off.

Well, I hit a milestone tonight (550,000km) so took a photo to add to the other high mileage D3's out there.

I am the third owner/steward - bought it 5 years ago from a Church, who bought it from a company that ran tours with it doing mostly country driving. My contribution is 40,000km of those - Covid restrictions and all that, plus I have access to another couple of cars. As far as components go, it is on the original engine and transmission, but am unsure on diffs. Last year I had the original turbo and original power steering pump replaced at 530,000km because they were acting up. I recently changed out the original transmission control module too. As for control arms, I wouldn't like to hazard a guess on number's replaced of those consumables!
I am maintaining a 6 monthly service schedule and replacing things as required but figure it is an expensive car when new so you should expect expensive car issues. Luckily I bought it very, very cheap (the high Km's spooked buyers) and it had been well maintained by the previous two owners, There will probably come a time when the cost may outstrip my wallet, but if I can keep doing some of the smaller stuff myself that should help. There are at least a couple of 1 million+ Km examples around the place (UK and AUS), plus another couple of D3's I know of locally that have over half a million km's on them, so the doomsayers can't be right all the time...can they? Phenomenal! I’m a few kms shy of 50% of that.
Cheers, Dale
