Something is not right there as Toyota still do the injectors for no cost, even well out of warranty, and at any mileage.Affects some vehicles,2016-2019,and is a known problem,i have the manufacturers TSB here. They do a lot more than replace the just the injectors once they fail,EGRs,DPFs and software upgrades to name a few.Good to see the manufacturer acknowledges the problem, and do the repairs at no cost well out of warranty, unlike the green oval on many, many issues, particularly engines.
Short runs where the engine is not warmed up exasperate the problem.
Pistons gone,i presume cracked is very rare on a 1-VD,if the story is correct, which i doubt it.Common on chipped Prados though.
Dealer price for crate engine change over probably and way,way over the top, same as LR dealers.
Turbos at 100,00Km,must be a lot more to the story?
Same as LR,many vehicles are wrongly diagnosed by the dealers,a good Indi will probably find it is a simple issue, unless the vehicle has not been serviced correctly.
I actually saw one the other day on an LC forum, transfer box shot, dealer price close to $12K to replace
Indi diagnosed it as actuator full of water, breather had been dislodged, and had filled actuator mechanism full of water.
Transfer case fine.
Now i will go hide under a rock[bawl][bigrolf]
