The female metal part of the connection that resides in the dash always pops off and gets lost behind the panel when you open this cover.

Happens every time and I have found it every time. Sometimes you need to loosen the surround torx bolts to encourage it out.

Funny thing happened yesterday. I went out with the Range Rover Club and stopping facing downward on a steep track I applied the hand brake. There was much grinding noises but the hand brake worked and subsequently released. !5 minutes later I applied the brake on a steep hill and the same noise. But this time the brake would not release. I took away the cup holders and pulled on the handbrake eyelet and the brake released, but the brake warning light flashed, the red triangle was lit and drivers screen kept coming up with a message that the hand brake needed to be applied. 30 minutes later I stopped the car on a level surface and in auto mode I applied the brake, it worked and so has ever since. Do I need to do anything or do I just accept the gremlin has gone away and all is well? There is no warning light on now. Should I use my GAP tool and remove any warning code? Thanks

You should be taking the back wheels off,
Putting the Park Brake into service mode,
    Take the discs off,
    Clean and grease everything,
    Refit Rotors etc,
    Adjust correctly.

If you don’t you’re in for a big bill...

Whoops! indeed. A similar sentiment was exclaimed by the passenger who was attempting to spotlight a hare at the time. As was the driver, who would have been better advised to have been looking at where he was going...

We tried shifting the gold bullion to the rear left, but it kept sliding forward.

My son and I were returning after having harvested some bunnies when a hare was spotted just along from the gate to the farmhouse, so I kept driving along an unfamiliar sloping access track which was literally just behind the shed. The owner had requested we have a stern word with the hares which were attacking the garden.
I was going slowly of course, still in low range, and the front right wheel completely dropped into the wombat hole with the car resting on the rock-sliders. We weren't going anywhere, so we just locked up the car and recovered in the morning. The owner used a farm ute to pull it back as my son bounced on the rear left. As soon as the wheel touched the ground and the front right wheel was lifted above the lip of the hole, the traction control kicked in and it was free.
Many a joke was had at my expense over the weekend!

Is that a prospered rack? Looks cool. Why did you pick it over a rhino platform?

Gumtree to the left of your winch would have been an ideal anchor point to get your left drive back to terra firma .
