I love my apt front plate that much I have not fitted my bullbar, I might end up selling it. I've never needed a winch

Yep - I have a bit of rubber sheeting over the top of the battery, held in place by the leather strap. Just didn't show it in the original post.
Leather strap is from an old very heavy belt (I have a couple of them left). They are much heavier / stronger than most I see today, and I was able to get good tension on it simply by pulling the nuts down until sufficient tension was on the belt. I'll probably make a steel bracket eventually, just to be on the safe side. I have a couple that I could probably modify, but they are too high above the battery and will hit the bonnet in their current shape.

Didn't look to see where mine was made - probably Mexico. It's the second one to fail like this in about a year - I won't be touching their products again. I tried to recover it over a few days following procedures I've seen on here posted by Tim from TRAXIDE. Managed to get it back up to about 12.5V and holding that voltage over a couple of days - until you put even a small load on it - when it immediately dropped down to below 11 volts.

I have a dual volt meter in the console, and can see what voltage is in both circuits at any time - the new battery is definitely performing better so far than either of the Optima's ever did. I've had the Engel fridge running a lot over the past few days - mostly with the engine not running. The fridge has far less effect on the state of charge of the Fullriver than it ever used to on the Optimas.

I would be surprised if a leather battery securing strap would pass a RWC.

I apologise in advance because, as you are in Melbourne, I could not resist.

The strap probably would pass - but only if it was viewed in 'isolation'.

Unless it has been "pre-stretched" by the owner's beer belly or six pack as the case may be.

Rubbish!!!! You can buy battery securing straps made from various materials, including leather, webbing (as in seatbelt type material), rubber etc. As long as the battery is "secure" and does not move, it is perfectly legal and will have no problem passing an RWC examination.
