    Matt finish actually causes glare.

You can test this by wetting your bonnet, throw some dust or dirt on it and let it dry in place.

Then go for a night drive, particularly where there are street lights and you will very quickly see the problems a matt finish will cause.
Fair point I hadn’t thought of that

    Today - newer new brakes

Hi all, at 120000km or so replaced the front rotors (Delios) and Delphi pads. The Delphi pads are the first frictionless front brake pads I have ever installed , and very dusty at that. This morning 7000km later and in less than an hour I have transformed the way the car stops by putting in DBA XP (Xtreme Performance) pads.

Yesterday I attacked the LHR door actuator again having changed it a month ago. This time I was armed with a new cable (from the actuator the external handle) and a new 'end cap' or 'screw cover' that sits behind the handle. Obviously I had damaged both of them last time...

    The cap was ONLY $26.07

The reinstatement of the trim ended up taking me longer than removing the actuator and handle, replacing the cable and then putting them back in place. However the door does everything it is supposed to do so at the end of the day I'll call it a win.

Did many trips towing the nags to clinics over the weekend...all up towing weight around 3 tonnes...some highway and lots of steep hills..sat on around 90kph most of the time..car loaded too.

Fuel readout sat on 14.6...don't know how accurate that is but for a V6 petrol I'm more than happy with that.

As a point of comparision..the D2a with same loading would drop to 45-50kph on a steep stretch of road heading home...flat out. The SC D4 easily pulls to 90kph and not flat out....sitting just under 4000rpm smooth as silk with a slight sc whine in 3rd or 4th gear. The TD5 hammered the fuel under load and sounded very painfull when thrashed.

There's a lot to like about the SC V6 engine and 8 speed auto not to mention all the other benefits of great ride...powerful AC....great stereo etc etc😊

I still struggle to understand why more weren't sold. ....fuel costs are higher yes...but the engine/auto combo works so well.

    weekend fun. D3 2007 TDV6

Upgraded brakes to the larger V8 sized rotors and carriers. Uses same sized pads.

DBA T3 on front, T2 to the rears, Bremtec endure pads.
Did a full brake flush but in my eagerness to bleed drivers side rear and having the rotors and calipers fitted to that side I forgot calipers were off on the passenger side.

Pop pop pop out with the caliper pistons on that side and a big mess of genuine LR expensive brake fluid on the concrete. I had to put the old fluid back in as I needed to drive to work today, have ordered 3 1L bottles of the LR fluid from sunnie coast dealer and will have that tomorrow. Will do the full brake flush his time with calipers all on!!

Completed the job including the adjustment of park brake and its finicky bedding in procedure.

Weekend job will be a service, new oil, filters.
My back keeps reminding me I'm not 21 anymore!!!

    John,
Do you know that you can fit a winch to this bar? I thought that the oem bars were not winch compatible. My D4 came with an oem bar and I’ve been trying to work out how to fit a winch, but have yet to come up with a solution. If you or anyone else knows what and how, I’d be delighted to hear.
    Cheers

opps easy to do and in my case I called myself a f wit. I have since purged the old fluid out and flushed with new LR fluid.
Difference in braking with the new V8 sized T3 / T2 and bremetec pads plus new fluid is amazing.

    Now for new air struts

You can fit a discrete mount winch to it with very little modification
