Without a drawing, diagram or clear photo my I-Ching calculator says “a suffusion of yellow”.

Its between the earths of the resistors and the common ground (separate earth and pole for each side), couldn't find any diagrams that included a switch.

Not being willing to pay huge dollars for a bespoke fitted solution, this will work in the first place. Held on with double sided carpet tape. Lower rear tailgate shot of work in progress.

Then I put some front mudflaps on, using Scott's posts as a reference. For those who haven't had to solve the problem before, here's a good tip for when you need to drill a hole in something once its offered up. The problem here is that I needed to use the installed screw on the car, but didn't want to spend all day making templates, testing and adjusting etc. My solution is to target the screwhole with my laser (first picture.). Then having screwed the mudflap in place using the other hole, I can drill at the marked crosshairs. Quick, accurate, no stress.

brilliant idea! That lazer would have made cutting my front bumper for the hidden winch a breeze. I initially did a pretty good job of it only to find it was about 2-3mm below where it should have been. then I butchered it into a much larger opening than it ever needed to be. Live and learn I suppose!

The diagram looks correct, and your switch location sounds correct. That only leaves the implementation in question. Connecting the left and right sides can only happen through the resistors or relay coils and only if you are lifting the earth to either in a manner that leaves them floating and connected.

Learnt about Panic Alarms and EDR

I accidentally activated the Panic Alarm when the Key Fob sitting in my pocket pressed up against the side arm of a chair I was sitting in. The D4 out in the driveway activated its panic alarm... I headed out to turn it off, pushing various combinations on the key fob buttons, thinking that the unlock and the hazard buttons would be the most obvious to deactivate. Nothing worked, until I opened the vehicle and pressed the start button. All good... but when we got back home I checked out the online manual to see what the go was... and learnt that pressing down on the hazard button on the key fob for 3 seconds is the activator, and the deactivator is to same until it stops. Different to disarming the normal alarm if it goes off (can't recall that ever happening) where you can push the open button on the fob or the door button. interesting.

I also learnt in the manual that the MY 2016 D4 is equipped with an Event Data Recorder (EDR). Who knew?
    The manual states that:
"The main purpose of an EDR is to record data in certain circumstances that will assist in understanding how a vehicle's systems performed. Such circumstances are crash or near crash-like situations e.g. an airbag deployment or hitting a road obstacle. The EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as:

    • How various systems in the vehicle were operating.
    • Whether or not the driver and passenger seat belts were buckled or fastened.
    • How far, if at all, the driver was pressing the accelerator and/or the brake pedal.
    • How fast the vehicle was travelling.

The collected data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur."

Did others know this... and has anyone ever had this information gathered after a crash?

    Cheers

Both the Police and Insurance company's regularly use data gathered from vehicle systems when investigating accidents.
Having WOT (wide open throttle) appear in the recovered data, seconds before the recorded crash doesn't usually bode well for the driver!
Life is just a series of obstacles preventing you from taking a nap.
