Took the van away for 4 days and the gearbox post valve body rebuild was excellent, not a single issue and shifted as good as when i first got it at 140k.

Super ModeratorI put 83L into the D3 after rolling into Northcliffe on fumes. I reckon I did between 50-80ks with everything turned off and a very light touch on the throttle at about 80kph.

SubscriberThe drive belt decided to start disintegrating while on hols in a regional town on the south coast of WA.
It had thrown half its width off on the road with strands busy flogging itself, any cables in the vicinity, or wrapping around the fan shaft. I cleared out the loose bits and drove it into town as we were camped about 40 minutes out.
The first three mechanics we went to all claimed to be far too busy to change the belt with the spare I was carrying.
The first even gave me the "we don't do Land Rovers" bull**** until I pointed out to him that a local company with a fleet of them had recommended him because he does indeed do look after them.
Eventually - on the fourth go - I found a mobile mechanic who was able to assist. Driving thru town attracted much attention with the flappy belt!
It took the two of us just over an hour to change it on his driveway, coming up from the bottom, leaving the fan in place.
1,000km later, all good. (That includes the 8h/700km drive home).
I suspect it was a faulty belt.
Idle pulley, water pump and PS unit have all been replaced in the past year, and the belt itself last replaced back in Jul 22. No discernible bearing noises or rough running.
My usual indy is going to give it the once over next week, and fit a new belt because the spare was the one removed from the July replacement.
If at first you don't succeed, that's one data point. - xkcd

Replaced the faulty old integrated CarPlay unit(s) with a newer integrated CarPlay/AA unit. The new unit came indirectly from oldjaguar via a local reseller.
This is what I ripped out. Two boxes, one under the shifter and another above the screen. Should have been just plugs, but I discovered that the installer had WIRED IN the unit to the head unit. And therefore cut the vehicle loom, close to the multipin plug on the head unit... so I had to carefully solder and reinstate several fine shielded cables.

This is what I installed.

To my relief (amazement) it all worked first pop, and now I can make phone calls without the unit crashing, and as a bonus the audio quality is much improved.

I once put about 10 liters of unleaded into the D3 by accident, so I towed the car home and drained the tank completely. I then refilled it right up to the top of the filler neck just to see the total capacity. I was able to put 92 liters in up to that level. The car is a My07 TDV6 S.
