As far as I'm aware with the Auto stuff I've personally done, adaptions work both ways.

If your box is worn, the adaptions will calculate slip time and correct it as best it can.

If the box suddenly improves (rebuild) it will also adapt back the other way.

If you get your box rebuilt, the mech should probably reset the adaptions, it will POSSIBLY be quicker to get adjusted to where it is needing to be.

If this is done, he should really test drive it for you for a couple hours @ $200 per HR, so that it's adjusted correctly when you get it back.

Not many owners would want to pay that, but realistically (literally) it's the only way to re learn.

If he doesn't reset it and doesn't drive it much, it'll be up to the owner to simply drive it and let it re learn.

That's how it's designed to operate.

Personally I'd possibly get the adaptions reset, but I wouldn't pay $400 to get it driven around.

    Cheers

how do you figure 2 hours?
the procedure mentioned above would take half an hour tops
my thinking is the mechanics should do it given it’s a specific process and to ensure once the procedure is completed the transmission works as it should with smooth precise changes

Admittedly 2 hours would be the outside.

The engine and auto should be at operating temperature, there's 15-20 minutes.

The procedure outlined above would basically be to prevent the car from changing so poorly that the owner brings it straight back.

That procedure is not enough to relearn adaptions based on all conditions by a long way...

There are so many variables impacting gear shifts that a couple of long drives are best.

I agree with loanrangie, I'd just drive it.

    Cheers
    James

I’ve had a UHF and a Cell fi Go under the passenger seat for years - couple of cable ties holding them in place until I “get around to making a proper bracket”

The intention had always been to make a metal bracket to pick up the existing mounts.

Well, whilst metal fab is fun, so is Fusion 360 😎
    So this is the result

And fitted using the 4 6mm threads on the base.

Excuse the lack of clean up - I’ll do it after the sealant cures…

Fitted a decktite to get a couple of power feeds onto the roof rack. Using the blanking plate made it easy enough.

    Finished!!!!

    4 additional USB C / USB 3 charging points
    Roof side lighting wired up
Trailer plugs changed to a single 12 pin with Anderson plug build in
    Replaced clock spring
Finished wiring the 2nd UHF and CelFi
    Cleaned the floor!
Painted the wheel carrier in Raptor and rebuild pivot with new bearings and a new gas strut
    New Upper rear arms
    New HEL brake lines
All fluids changed including brake flush
3.0 litre front brakes and T2 rotors with DBA ceramic pads

Then wired hybrid campers plug over to suit the new plug on disco

    Wheel alignment at 14:00

When I get back from my trip this weekend I just need to drop the fuel tank, fit the new sender units to restore my actual tank capacity (currently vehicle thinks it’s empty at 60l of use).

I missed the bit where you sat down for a breath of air and a cuppa. You might consider giving up the "Fire Engine".

Don't go too hard mate. Remember you have to lower your heart rate to perform well in the shoot.
    Cheers, Billy.
