Looks like a split manifold to me and is extremely common on a 3L.
Hi All,
after 128,000km without issues about half of it towing, my luck has finally run out.
last weekend leaving a service centre trying to mix back into 110km/hr traffic, the red triangle fault light came up.
luckily my brother was able to take my camper. I headed back home to put D4 away to take another vehicle for a long weekend camping.
managed to look a bit deeper into the issue this weekend, oil on one manifold tell me a possible leak. Has anyone seen a similar oil deposit?B1A738BC-4B0B-4553-874F-EB9D1484A9C8.jpg

Thanks.
if this is a common issue, has anyone successfully managed to have them replaced under the TSB as a manufacturers fault?
My chance to have them both replaced as a defect part from the start is low, I have always kept the service up and have even received extended warranty 5+2 without asking!
Nope. Do a search on the forum on the topic and you’ll find endless info on it. I’d suggest doing both sides at the same time for peace of mind. There is a small labour benefit as well.
Expect in the order of $1200-3000 depending if one or both are done, and where you take it

Again, thanks gents.
Yes, will get both done for piece of mind, with a small saving in labour.
Had it booked for this coming Tuesday anyway for timing chain due to age (MY13) not km.
From other posts with similar/worse cracking, extra plastic thickness and ribbing has been added for strength.
Well bugger me.
I went in for a engine timing chain change, then the long weekend restricted perform. Issue.
To replace both rocker/intake manifold with all hoses/parts and 2 days labour is $6,230 and add $3,900 Timing chain and belts, it’s about 7% of the origin price.
Hope this includes the newer updated covers😜
Who the hell is quoting that? (Don’t answer)
Timing belts and idlers from a dealer cost me $1100.00
They’ll have half the engine bay apart to do the intakes.
They’re taking the ****!
If you haven't already committed the car to the dealer, it would be worth getting a quote from Ritters in Burwood and Rova Range in Bentleigh. Personally, I would give serious consideration to shipping it to Daniel at British Automotive in Romsey. It would be a pleasant drive back to Melbourne with everything sorted and the towing and fuel costs would be more than compensated by the savings, which, I suspect, would be a few thousand dollars.
