I keep to the standard 36/33 pressure, a couple more if the car is loaded. Yes the ride is not the comfyest and I need to go slow in rocky terrain, that's a significant price. Grip is seldomly a problem, less very isolated cases of rock crawling on smooth ledges covered with fine powder. I do reduce pressure in deep sand, otherwise the car is useless there. Not much experience with mud.
So not a recommendation for all, but I found the 19s to be a livable compromise.
I agree,it depends on the strength of the tyre.Luck does take a small part as well, but it is minimal.
After numerous punctures,on the OEM Bridgestones on our work utes, have gone to Wildpeaks, and none.
Twenty years of BFG AT's, in our own 4WD's,not a single puncture.D2's,D4,LC200.
For the record,the D4 had 18's.
A mate works for an Australia wide refrigeration company with over 700 utes on the road, most carrying heaps of weight and many tow large trailers all day.
All have GVM upgrades.
Nearly all are Rangers.
They tried many different tyres over the last few years in a trial, after having continual tyre issues, mainly punctures.
Settled on BFG,as virtually no problems with them, virtually no punctures, compared with every other brand they tested.
