    Hi BlackPerth,

I have also purchased the Kenwood model, however the the company that installed my system cannot get the sound to come through the speakers.

So when the phone rings, I need to turn down the sound from my stereo. There is also no sound when directing me to an address.

    Is your system the same?

    Thanks

They need to wire it as follows:
    - front speaker ouput from the original radio (from the back of the radio for lowline, or from the AMP under the drivers seat) into the level input for the KOSV500(or 1000).
    - rear speaker output from the original radio - DO NOT Connect
    - outputs from the KOSV500(or 1000) back to the original speaker wires.

That way the radio is fed through the Kenwood system.

    Cheers,
    AP.

    Thanks Powella,

I have told the company that installed mine that it can be done, and he informed me that it would take half a day to do. Is that correct?

Also, just to clarify that the GPS would have sound; and I don't need to turn down the stereo sound to answer/talk on the mobile phone once it is wired to your specs?

    Thank you once again.

    Mine behaves like this:
When I answer a phone call the front speakers are muted.
When the GPS states a direction, the front speakers are muted.

The only small challenge is that the SUB(if you have a High Line set) is still connected to the LR radio, thus you may get some rumbling.

    Cheers,
    AP

    Aftermarket GPS etc for RRS

Just to clarify something in this thread.

I have a RRS 2008 and would like to integrate a 7" GPS and a reversing camera.

When you fit a new sound system to a D3 ( and therefore a RRS) do you lose the use of the steering wheel controls and/or the trip computer, as apparently these are controlled through the original head unit. The aftermarket dealer I contacted suggested that I would lose these, which I find unacceptable. Is he talking through his hat?

I am not interested in rear seat DVDs, just the large touch screen GPS and the reversing camera.

One national car accessory supplier offered to install reverse camera, GPS and blue tooth but it would have removed the DSC and reverse sensor as well as the entire existing radio cd unit in the D3 SE tdv6 (quoted about $1200) declined due them not know what else they might disconect - LOL. Freeway car audio offered a good solution which is a little pricey and did not take toppo maps. See http://www.freewaycaraudio.com.au/gps_navigation.html

I understand a new option might being developed specifically for us. Let you know asap. I am waiing for this option which should be beter on several fronts. Nice Gent at AMV ringwood let me know about it.
