And there's no need for Court (in fact those who go this route first are wasting their time and money and probably shooting themselves in the foot). If the dealer/manufacturer wont help then head straight to the ACCC!
I wrote two letters and had work done by LRA that I would estimate cost over $10K. Never went near a Court.
And if it were so comprehensive, then why are there so many insurers offering packages that extend it?? Your limited experience has no bearing on what I said.
No statute would place liability on the manufacturer for wear and tear once a product has been bought by a consumer. No government would ever consider doing so. All such legislation will cover is fair protection for the consumer against poor workmanship during the manufacturing process and faulty parts where they cause the consumer loss. To do otherwise would be idiocy.
