The ARB bar wont fit without modification to the Bar or the Vehicle, I made them prove it to me in person

There are two bars at TJM, a petrol and a diesel version, I presume it is only the brackets hat are different

ECB are probably the largest manufacturer of alloy bullbars in Oz. The powder coated versions are more user friendly. I don't believe they make a winch bar for the Disco though. Should be some data on their website. Last time I looked Opposite Lock were agents for ECB.

You will need to check their site, but the last time I looked, they did not have a winch compatible bar for the Disco 3.

They put a steel cradle in to support the winch on their other alloy winch bars. Probably means the weight saving is not actually very much. <Mainly rust resistant though.

was having a look around the ARB site. There is a 21 page instruction book on how to fit a bull bar

Deluxe Bull Bars | ARB 4x4 Accessories » Products » ARB Protection Equipment » Bull Bar Model Range » Deluxe Bull Bars

Posted in another forum so not my work. After some minor front end damage (not my fault) and seeing the parts cost from a qoute, I'm looking at bull bars for my petrol D3 as well.. Like the ARB but maybe not an option if the following is true.

So apart from Land Rover genuine parts, (it is $1300 just for a nudge bar), I don't know where to go......??????????

The issue with the ARB bar is the way the transmission cooler lines are run, it interferes with the crush can that is used to mount the bull bar to provide crumple zone compatibility.
With so little inquiry for bars on the petrol variant, retooling to suit was not an option.
EBC don't make a comparable bar either.
If TJM used to make a compatible bar it may be worth hunting through wreckers online to try and find one and paint it up like new but I would make very sure first that it does not have the same problem with the cooler lines.
Another option would be to find a comparable bar (non winch) and use a custom chassis winch mount then modify the bar to accept a fairlead - this may open a whole new can of worms though.
Lastly buy the Gen winch nudge and put up with its shocking looks (am told its about $3300.00)
Cheapest and easiest option - buy a Trifor or other good brand hand winch depending on the kind of wheeling you want to do (and I suspect your cars purpose is as a tourer) you may never use it but its there for peace of mind.

A fair few changes since those postings. I would revisit the ARB, Opposite Lock, and ECB options again before making any decision. I don't believe you will find the TJM is available, so not an option

ARB will fit a petrol D3 BUT.......

I also have a MY08 V6 Disco 3 petrol and I contacted ARB and they confirmed that their winch bulbar will fit but you need to move some piping, parts around to make it happen. They also said that this could cause all sorts of vehicle alarms.

That being said as far as I can see ARB are the only option I have. TJM don't make it and the ECB bar is NOT winch compatible

DiscoSaffa said earlier in this post that he had the ARB fitted to his V6 Petrol D3.

DiscoSaffa - Do you know if the guys that fitted yours moved anything and have you had any alarm problems?

    Cheers Harry
