I didn’t get the adaptive one. Seems that HUD is an standard on oz cars and have to say I am really impressed by it. Guess all you have to do is wait!
Have managed to drive 17 model (pre update) sdv8. Love the shove of the motor. When I was at dealer had stacks of new model but still in pre delivery. Love the sdv8 hse dynamics, but finally understand what you meant with price.... Within 10-15k of full size range rover. Pretty much settled on what options, still toying with the interior whether to go for the 22 way seats with massage,
As that also opens up different trims. I think it is what each person wants (there's no needs for rrs haha all want). I've had the ss Holden's and hsv's, merc v8s and love the sound, but it suited those cars. I'm still leaning towards sdv8, just because it has that power and more subtle engine note. Can be heard when you push hard but not a drone when cruising.
Settled on yulong white with black pack and 21" S9001 style wheels. Sliding panoramic glass, heated cooled seats, hse dynamic, red callipers, tpms, park pack.
Still need to drive an sdv8 and sdv6 back to back for final decision on motor and massage seats....again this would determine the interior colour. Most of the options are what I have on current discovery td6.
The only other option in contention is adaptive cruise. Have it on discovery, but had an epace loan car the other day with just std cruise. Had a drive and didn't miss the adaptive as much. Did you get it?

Going to organise to drive sdv6 and sdv8 back to back and if there's a v8 petrol to make decision. Then can see what the dealer can do with price around options. Can you turn HUD off, only as wife wasn't fan of it on gts and merc.
After pricing what I think I would want as my dream sdv8 hse dynamic with options it's like 100inch said, it's the same price as rrs autobiography or within a very close to full size range rover. Again conundrum is to step up to the full size range rover, Autobiography but miss sdv8, or sdv8 and get realistic with options? Pedantic I know but as it's the dream don't want to buy/order it with regret.
For me it was always clear that I will trade it in within 2-3 years and it is not our only car so I am probably more relaxed about specs. So far I couldn’t be happier and so is my wife ( and it is her main car). Performance wise it seemed quick enough and dragging off the lights is not one of my priorities to be honest. Happy to wait for another set of red&green lights whilst having the cooled seats and the stereo on! M
On another note I think you should have a second look at the massage seat option. It requires the AB seats and adds a big amount. We considered the option but went without in the end. Cooled front seats are good value so make sure you got them. M
Finally found the one I was looking for late last year. RRS SDV8 Dynamic MY16.5 sitting on 22s with Contis and a long list of extras. Drove the SdV6 prior , but this car is worth the upgrade for that v8 feel of power and pure grunt. Great touring car, amazing vehicle in the hills as the mountain of torque make progress absolutely effortless. Average fuel is just on 10, not bad considering how hard it’s driven at times. Can’t wipe the grin off my face at the moment. Highly recommended but tick the extra boxes as it’s a stingy car for the price of the HSE. Only regret is mine doesn’t have adaptive cruise, which having recently borrowed a RR Velar for a few days found this to be a great driver aid when freeway driving.
DEFENDER X D300 MY23.5
RRS HSE SDV8 MY16.5
LRD3 S TDV6 MY06
LRD2 TD5 MY96
LRD1 V8 MY87
With your sdv8 hse, what options did you pick and any you think you could do without?
