..let’s hope new Defender is so good it has such a waiting list...at a lower price point and the front coolers are well up out of the way.
Well ol mate at JLR said its guna put the gwagon into the shade so here's hoping they live up to the hype, my local dealer already has a New Defender waiting/preorder list, and ive heard the same about others, hopefully Slovakia can pump em out fast enough like the D5s

Ol mate at JLR has a penchant for spinning a lot of prose in his lilac blazer, but you never know, we might even see one or two on the canning in a few years time without blown shocks LOL. ... but like the G, unfortunately most will more likely be rocking the red (or lilac) carpet.

Most SUV owners yes, no news there. Most 4x4 owners no. ...millions live and work in the bush worldwide. There’s a big difference. Up until now, Defender has been a 4x4. This is the big question mark against new Defender. If it leaves the G in the shade, where does it leave the bush? ...all to Tojo.

Hopefully they test the defender shocks in the same way or more then how they tested the D5 shocks.

I hope they do more than that up and down jiggy-jig tbingy! 10 years of the most extreme driving stresses my arse. Isn’t that the GWagen jigger?

Where’s the 50 degree heat for 20 years? The grit, the sand, the gibber, the water, the washouts, the lateral forces, the gear in and out of the back, the roo strike, the towing, the weight, the load, the sun.

Sure they’ll make a fuss about a bit of a Mohave sojourn and promo an arctic park jaunt, but will they actually live and work the vehicle. I reckon they should give one to you to test in the city and one to me to test out bush LOL.

For sure mate, no one is denying that 4x4s are in the bush and are needed. It looks like with 4x4's (usually meaning has low range and drive to all wheels) 32% are registered to non urban areas(that's a lot) whether the other 68% registered in urban areas are used for off-road or not that was not really the point above. For sure there are question marks over the new defender as its not released yet, however being 5x Range Rover classic owner, I haven't seen anything yet that would stop me buying it.
If it leaves the gwagon in the shade, known as one of the best 4x4s you can buy (commercial version in my opinion), then it says allot about what else it will leave in the shade. If the approach, ramp and departures and no doubt wading are anything to go by its already doing that by far and it hasn't even been revealed. Time will tell though, Toyotas good and has its place, but we have been over all that many times.

No actual Bush 4x4 user will be buying one of these things, Nothing with these pathetic radiators in front of the wheels is going to be up to heavy duty service. Who is going to fix them now that there are no country dealers. Can't see many cockys scrubbing up and donning the Lilac jacket for when it needs the next software patch at Trivetts.

For sure thats some good testing real world is best, i hope they have or will bring the new fender to AU like they are in the states and artic.
I think you will find the testing JLR do is pretty intense even before it gets signed off for real worlds.
JLRs testing of even their humble evoque would make some other 4x4 makers blush.

    YouTube

First they test in-house to simulate just about everything, and do it very very well imo

They then take their cars all over the world in extremes of highs and lows for a combined huge amount of ks, prob more than 20years worth of ks or more.

Check out the sport susp test rig, thats a serious test rig!!

    YouTube

Yep that testing regime will do me just fine.

Are you going to come and join me in the bush are ya? Yep haha JLR 2 new defenders for us please, you can have em back in 10 years with a full report. Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...

Nobody has ever claimed the new defender will be a worksite 4x4, but who knows it might surprise us once they start releasing all the different body shapes and sizes.
