Roadside assistance, dispatching the appropriate service provider
 Emergency accommodation, in the event your vehicle takes longer than 24 hours to repair
 Rental vehicle, if you need to continue travel to your destination
 Towing, if your vehicle can’t be mobilised
 Legal and/or medical emergency assistance.
I get all that from RAC, Regardless of the make of vehicle

Yep Trout. LR only use RACQ, RACV etc etc as contractors. They don't have their own pool of breakdown techs and slide trays. So get top cover with the RACQ for e.g. and they recover vehicles pretty much all over the place. Even the far North of QLD as my mate with a D3 found out...barged back to Cairns the by car carrier to Brissy...all free.

    Cheers

Most as do I,however its capped at 3k per year with RAC, NRMA etc. However for that service its not cheap per year, and it costs per vehicle, however this is free whilst you are under warranty and after for a period it seems. They offer more support as well including over the phone tech to help get you going and even legal help.

Its a seamless approach to getting you back on the road(owners report very good experiences), more is to come it seems

Yes but 3k per year limit, ive had that for a large number of years, best insurance you can get. Free LR even better, as its free and end to end including getting your car fixed if warranty issue.

The cut and paste Land Rover advertorial in this thread is becoming tiresome.

LR roadside is not free...it lasts three years when you purchase a new vehicle. The price is built into new vehicle prices. Yes some have had a good experience. Others have had atrocious warranty / service experiences.

With a new vehicle every three years to get ‘free’ roadside, you’re also paying for the fancy new JLR showrooms, advertising spin, poor service centre network, and the pressure to pay exhorbitant dealer servicing as well. Getting your car fixed is only ‘free’ if it’s a fault, not a consumable, such as a clutch. The privilege of owning a new Land Rover is expensive in every way. Let’s be honest here. The majority simply can’t afford it.

A combination of RAC and Club 4x4 (off road insurance and remote recovery) is currently the best combo IMO.

The LR bashing on a thread about the new defender is equally tiresome, keep it to the Yota forums.Won’t be retro...

People don't have the time to put facts in their own words sometimes copy and pasting is efficient and needed when people claim things that are simply not true, such as Land Rover have no regional town dealer/service network Won’t be retro....

For those that lease their vehicles or get a new vehicle every 3-5years good on them that's their choice (there are certainly a large number of members and non-members that operate this way) their is definitely something to be said about keeping a four-wheel drive under warranty especially when you are using it for what it is intended.
Land Rovers warranty coupled with Land Rover roadside assistance is a very good option for carefree touring. Of course it doesn't cover consumables and fixing things are your fault, no-one claimed that. However with one phone call you can get your car from broken down in the middle of nowhere two fixed at the nearest regional dealer, while staying in free accommodation or continuing your trip in a free hire car.

    Remote recovery; am I paranoid?

As you say a combination of good off road insurance and premium roadside assistance is the go for vehicles out of warranty or out of Land Rover roadside assistance.

Yeah I would have thought, NRMA is 3k per year on premium. Think others are the same.

FWIW,there is very little LR bashing on Yota forums.

Unless i am looking on the wrong ones?

On some sites there is a bit of Yota bashing....

In fact on the 76 owners Yota FB site,i have never ever seen any LR bashing, ever, and i have been on it for ages.

They are a good mob of guys, younger than many on here, that generally keep on topic all the time, with lots of good info, not only about Yotas, but about heaps other things as well.Similar as here(but without any LR stuff).

    Won’t be retro...

I don’t think the new Defender will be truck like rugged as is the previous defender or G. But will be a cross between a Hilux ruggedness, D4 appeal, with Defender appearance cues. Apart from appearance cues there won’t be much in common with the last edition (which I think was a BT50/Ranger parts bin edition and not respectful of the vehicle’s heritage Won’t be retro...).

I think it will have more appeal than a G, D4 or a Hilux, if JLR can shake its unreliability/QA reputation at least for this model.
