Interesting responses to an article quoting LR saying they will be taking on the competition. Heaven forbid [emoji23]
Read this again
Takeaway is:Quote:
Cameron said there would be a “wide-stretched range that can compete at that entry level with some of the volume manufacturers and go right up to very powerful, very luxurious versions”
They are not saying this is going to be a hilux or ranger killer or an anything killer.Quote:
"Entry level that can compete with SOME of the Volume manufactures"
Just that they will have low enough entry level to compete with some of the manufactures that pump out big numbers, who they are however, time will tell.
With articles, look oat the on record quotes, everything else is the authors take on those comments which may or may not be true.
When you consider how expensive say a Ranga Wildtrac is and then add the LR Euro tariff well...
And a live reae axle locked rear Ranger is going to flog a coiler IRS Defender offroad so to.compete properly and not just in the la la world the Defender with Air suspension will need to be around the same price as the Wildtrac to take it to the other manufacturers.
Can't see that.
Cheers
Oh come on BR
You banking on quotes from
“ local managing director Mark Cameron”
What else do you expect him to say
“This is going to be an over-hyped low volume vehicle”
His job is to talk it up
The only take home from that guff is their sales target of 350 a month which although admirable
Is still laughable compared with market leaders
So to say “taking it to Toyota” is pure marketing spin???
WRT to the entry level pricing
What happens - if the top of the pops LR2020 is $140k
A “hoseout” 90 for $75k is entry level pricing
It’s all relative and I’m too cynical to accept marketing spin at face value
S
are you sure?
where are your figures from?
my figures say 22 are sold each month in Australia...well in the 12 mths to end of June 2018.
I just dont believe 4320 Range Rover Sports being sold in Australia in 12 mths
That would make the total sales of all Land Rover vehicles a huge figure. You would see them everywhere you went.
Dreamland Blackie or link?
One day you will start a post without the somewhat disrespectful "oh come on BR" [emoji23]..
Nobody said 350 was their target, If you go back and look again, the article refers to the bristish company, not JLRA, they are looking at the vehicle globally..they are trying to make it one of their biggest sellers globally, not just AU.
400% on their 25k good year numbers gets you to 100k per year. Which is around what we were previously estimating on here.
Disco sport is over this and they go for 60-70k
My estimates are they will get to 150 to 200k vehicles within 3years at least, they look to be releasing it everywhere. Australia is a very small piece of the puzzle, but according to JLRA an important one.
Here are the latest figures, been watching, its been growing each month, my dealer says the Disco sport is the highest seller
