How many D5 are sold a month?
That will Be the target market give it take
If your after a RangeRover your not going to stump up for a Defender even if it’s $50k cheaper
And if you want an Evoque you won’t change your order to a Defender because they are the same price?

RR of any config is a total different market , company execs, real estate agents , doctors , etc and if they are 80k basic then i can see why they opt for RR instead of D5 . I know i would.Quote:

There could be one at,say 60K,but you wouldn't want it,same as there is a D5 in the high 60K something range,but its all smoke and mirrors.
As i have said before,to replace my poverty pack D4,with a similar spec D5 is over 100K.
So to get a new Deefer with transfer case,EAS,rear air,around 85 to 95K maybe?
I think the ‘110’ wagon could sell at a price higher than a GXL Prado.
So at $70-75k drive away, would probably sell, if:
- it has dual range box or a big spread single range box;
- similarly equiped to GXL;
- the Defender has a very good traction system;
- the Defender drives much better on the road than a GXL, ie as good or better than a D4;
- the usual/popular accessories are available after market;
- has a better safety rating than a GXL.
I seriously doubt that the current defender/series owners will shell out the luxury pricing on the new defender simply because it will be Nothing like their current ride and what they are able to do with that truck.
I can also see a mass exodus from the JLR "Brand" because of the lack of live axels and No full chassis that the opposition still offer at a far more reasonable price.
Most of the fun of Landrover ownership is that we can fix them ourselves and they are a seriously Tough 4WD, This new "Breed" of Landrovers leave me feeling cold.
The Good news is that when the New defender "Finally" hits the showrooms the old fenders will gain in value IMHO.
It’s pretty unlikely the LR2020 will have a range of a Playdoe
LR2020 also “looks” to have less load space
No confirmation on seating but possible 3+3 is a very different setup to 2+3+2 Playdoe seating
And most of all LR just don’t care at all about the dealer availability issue
That pretty well excludes them from a huge swathe of the market.
Time will tell all!

There may be a big market for a used 2020 (and onward) New Defender as a 2 yo Def will be affordable. Much like the D3 and D4 were expensive and largely canned by the then current LR owners but are now sort after.
As a D5 SD4 driver I am looking forward to the New Def being the D4 replacement I wanted.
