Simply put Jimny can take next to zero payload (even if you could fit it in) after bars/fuel and 1 person.(going by the new ones figures i looked at)

Jimny is just a weekend plaything imo and a good one!, however would be next to impossible to tour in even with 1 person when you do the math.

Yep. Agree absolutely. Talk is cheap. 7 years as part of the intro even for those that sign up in the first 6m of the release but otherwise 5 years and 150,000 otherwise it's all just the same old jibba jabba.

PS. If Mitsubishi can do 7 years for Triton LR can do it if Defender is seriously that reliable. If it's all just talk then they won't.

Interesting though their latest generation of vehicles seem to match in reality those words and if they are stepping it up for the new defender which by all evedince seen so far they seem to be, great.

If its anything like Toyota they will have more than a few recalls, hopefully the new over the air update system (if the defender gets it) will handle most software related updates like updating your phone.

It's not software that worries me it's major components that drive the vehicle. Those that out of warranty cause major financial heartache. Ie good old fashioned analogue problems in a digital world. Ie the area where LR has form.

Considering current warranty is 3 years 100k extendable to 5 year 200k, the later being my pick, maybe we will end up with something in the middle.

For sure and that's my point, with everything they have learnt, the form of current gen of vehicles and the testing they are putting into the new defender, major mechanicals would be unlikely but agree only time will tell.
