I've just had a thought.
I don't think the new defenders capability as a tug has been spoken about?
Will it good enough for the nomads....btw , theyr'e not all grey anymore...or will it be priced out of contention?

Yeah estimates on here are at least D5's specs, and D5 is known to be an incredible tow machine especially if the 6 is chosen. They say you cant feel your towing.

Which wasn't very many .... in March 2017 they sold just 1 Defender in Australia. It's hard to find figures, but it looks like total annual Defender sales around 2016 - before the rush to buy the last ones began - were under 700 per year. But the sales of just Evoques in March 2017 were 478. That's a very big difference.
Okay BR I’ll leave my incredulity to the side - but please tell me you don’t buy the marketing spin at face value?
I read this quote from the Aussie Manager in the article ;
....Cameron told 4X4 Australia this week, suggesting the British off-road specialist planned to grow Defender volumes by more than 400 per cent from its record highs in the twilight of its life.
That he is suggesting a 400% increase on Australian sales at end of defender which were 86 units a month. Ie sales target of 350 month. BUT as it is pure marketing spin you are probably right, he was probably quoting a worldwide sales target of 400% over end of run defender which numbers are whatever you have quoted?
I still don’t think his version of taking it to Toyota and reality align...
Anyways interesting times!

Well I do a bit of long distance and outback driving and I have not seen one pulling a van yet. Incredible. In fact I haven't seen a newer Discovery than a D4 out in the bush. I did not see a Land Rover product out around the floodwaters a few months ago.
Might be interesting to see what turns up at the Big Red Bash.
As above they are talking about global sales numbers, its quite obvious, either way it isnt a direct quote so best taken with a grain of salt.
If you also add in the comment about them wanting it to be one of their best sellers, Disco sport at around 60-70k sell over 100, 000 per year.
Marketing is marketing, i actually think his comments on reliability where honest, took ownership of past realities and addressed how they are now different and how they will prove it. I pay this comment, the unprecidented extensive testing seems to back this up.

There’s also the issue of reliability. While the previous Defender had a rugged reputation, other Land Rovers are not renowned for being durable in Australian conditions, something Cameron acknowledges will take years to change.
“You have to earn that, and reputations are hard won and fast lost … the only way in honesty that we can win that back is by proving it in reality,” he says, adding that even “if it’s the most reliable car that exists it’s still going to take a while [to regain buyers’ trust]. We’ve engineered it to a [new] level of durability.”
Cameron said the delay in the new Defender – now due to be revealed in September 2019 and on sale early in 2020 – was due to increased engineering efforts “to make sure it’s absolutely right”, something that has involved more than 1.2 million kilometres in a fleet of development vehicles.
Further to this rambling, not sure if you saw this reply to your question i looked up for you? the RRS sells around 200 more units in AU per quarter then the Nissan patrol and 300 more thsn the Porsche cayenne.
769 for Q1 (3000 units + per year)
Disco sport are @ 508 per month in AU that's 6k per year, im sure with the new 48v MHEV version this will keep rising.
