    Yet another article

Land Rover Defender To Spawn 'Very Wide, Stretched Range'

Looks like just before Frankfurt show (on the eve) but yet to see anything official confirming, all we've seen is at or around Frankfurt motor show

    Sept 11? Won’t be retro...

Interesting. That did sound like a straight 6. I bet that costs a bomb. Anyway if you want to spend up it looks like that's catered for. The wider the range the greater the appeal.

    Cheers

Found these for mild hybrid and hybrid RRS

Looks like for hybrid the batteries are under the back floor.

Completely different vehicle, nothing in common with old model at all(except the badge),so it will have the big engines, particularly the US models.

The most important thing is to have it priced right, not the add on packs that the D5 has, which as we know, blows the price right out.

Taking it to the big T,GXL 200 is low $80K,so they have to be competitive with that.

Although it won't be long before it is in run out,the 300 isn't far away, maybe 12 months.

So their main competitor will also be a new model,no one has seen yet.

If the 12V battery is in the rear down low on the Mild Hybrid
You’d have to guess it’s the same location for the ICE models

If so one of those rear tanks could be a battery bin?

After reading that guff I’m less interested in the hybrid? Essentially just giving an electric supercharger for more poke

I’ve never had a need for a zillion kw - sheet I even towed a 4T plus boat with a 300tdi (old mode rated to 4.5T towing)

Gears are more important than kW

I guess though if you weigh 3T plus you need a gazillion kW

Hybrids are a total waste of time & money & a con job that the gullible public will lap up. They had a purpose and the Prius served it now their day is over. If JLR were serious they will be implementing Hydrogen Fuel Cell .

D5s are 2T from memory, they went on a diet like the RRS

I'm more of a gears and kilowatts kind of guy haha.

Looking at other the Range Rover vogues they also have the battery under the back floor, under spare?

    YouTube

But I also initially thought one of those tanks could be the battery like you, still could be.

Yeah could be adblue tank at back on the 4cyl desiel versions.

If hydrogen is as big as some say, it will no doubt come when tech has matured.

Regarding hydrid, mate we all know you cant 4x4 tour AU with full EV at the moment, MHEV or HEV is the go for now.
