If it can survive our snotty grandkids and grotty dogs it should be just fine. Oh and, as mentioned previously, can I get 12 bags of goat poo in the back?

how come you can say poo but not ****?
From the link in the very first post in this thread....in December 2017, McGovern says :
I would love for the loyalists to harness the vehicle for what it is. The reality is the loyalists are loyalists and they love their Defenders, but they probably won’t buy a new one because they love the old one.
Almost 4000 posts later, was he right?
he is right, there are loyalists and royalists and royals too who love their Defender.
Now where is Shoogs?
He has something to answer to, for starting this thread.
It's not about nice paint. No one likes to beat up on their paint. If worried get flat white.
It's not about independent suspension, as the new Deefer was never going to retain it.
It's about rough, rugged reliability. If this is putting into action an improved version of what they got right with D3 and 4 and correcting what they have in the past got wrong then this could be a very good vehicle. I think it's too early to call it an unworthy vehicle.
Cheers
Agree with this, loyalists or diehards to me is, they love what they have and won't change no matter what and if that defines anyone, no worries [emoji41].
Modified Dictionary def:
Remains loyal [to the established defender], especially in the face of revolt.
Sounds about right [emoji23][emoji1419]
I don’t think y’all get it
It’s not about loyalists converting and buying a luxo SUV
It’s the company taking a vehicle name (I know it’s their pejorative to do whatever they want) and plonking it on just another SUV
Heck for all I care JLR could make 75 different SUVs all slightly different but from 500m they all look the same.
Don’t plonk the name Defender on some luxo SUV piece of junk.
Simples
It no different to say
BMW putting an M badge on slow poke commuter
Or FORD putting an F-truck label on something say Ranger sized
Or Jeep releasing a Wrangler that doesn’t have a soft top / half door / SWB version in the line up
It’s just not done
If JLR don’t want to make a workhorse let the name Defender pass and call this new luxo SUV something else.
