LR could say Defender now means Defender of LR's off-road prowess.

While I suspect wash out floor coverings and basic everything else will come in time is that enough if live axles gone forever? If they plastic floor and a 130 with a.decent tray and a 110 single cab would that do it for traditionalists? Cheers

It’s the company taking a vehicle name (I know it’s their pejorative to do whatever they want) and plonking it on just another SUV

Heck for all I care JLR could make 75 different SUVs all slightly different but from 500m they all look the same.

Don’t plonk the name Defender on some luxo SUV piece of junk.

It no different to say

BMW putting an M badge on slow poke commuter

Or FORD putting an F-truck label on something say Ranger sized

Or Jeep releasing a Wrangler that doesn’t have a soft top / half door / SWB version in the line up


It’s just not done

If JLR don’t want to make a workhorse let the name Defender pass and call this new luxo SUV something else.

Its a D4 with a tech update, curves and euro whatever engines. As has been said here....it'll be what the D5 was hoped to be. Can't wait :)

I remember when the D3 was released going to a LR club event, won't say where, and the evening consisted of a bunch of grizzled veterans sitting around moaning that the D3 had gone soft and wasn't a 'real' Landy. Sound familiar?
