Fair enough I actually agree with you that the Suzuki Jimny is most likely far more rugged then any future Defender. I only said the defender was more rugged then a D5.Quote:

The base model should be the most capable as it’s the most likely to go bush. It’s ridiculous that the most capable is the most expensive which is least likely to leave the suburbs!
If they leave the transfer case out of the new Defender base model it will be hilarious.
If the Jimny is more robust and capable than the new Defender it will be even more hilarious.
It’s most hilarious if anyone thinks they can judge the new Defenders capability, design and robustness based on the marketing spin we’ve had from JLR so far. Currently it’s like they’re fishing with corn at a trout farm!

The Jimny literally has enough space for 2 duffle bags squashed in with 2 adults 2 kids.
Series 3 would have 2x or 3x the space inside running 4 seats compared to jimny.
Heres some pics of one with 6 and 7 seats and still more space for luggage than a jimny using 4 seats

A jimmy would be good for us to leave in Tassie.....fly in pick up jimmy and head off to the start of a hike...a week later drive to the next...than go home. And comes back six months later and do it all again.
