Great touring wagon, but not being purchased by those who need a bullbar for driving outside the cities. D5 is just another version of Range Rover appealing primarily to that market. (Would be interesting to look at RRS sales which must have dropped since launch of D5).
Correct, sales don't help, but ARB said the week after the vehicle launch in Aus,they won't be making anything for it.Not interested at all.

I have contacted them twice since then and their answer was the same.

So basically, they are not interested in any new LR product,ATM.

Maybe the new Defender will be different,we can only hope.

    Interesting isn’t it.

No need for ARB products in Double Bay or Toorak.

4x4 of The Year 2018 #4: Land Rover Discovery Td6

Please explain to be how the d5 is not a family touring wagon, it is infact one of the most family suitable touring wagons in existence in soo many ways!
$100K for any car ISN’T good value. If you have the money and are happy to spend it, no probs and that they come with all th bells and whistles is great, but I don’t call that value in any way shape for form to be honest. I would consider a base model I30 that come standard with sat nav, cruise control, reverse camera, parking sensors etc, etc with 5 year unlimited KM Warranty for $20K good value. I would consider a D5 to be an excellently engineered and built luxury vehicle - and worth the money for that type of car absolutely, but not value...

Agreed Homestar, 'our' sense of what constitutes good value has gone nuts in recent years.

I bought my new 2014 Defender for under $50k in 2014 (a deliberate strategy because I knew the end was coming). ...That was good value, especially when the only competitors at the time were Tojo 70 series at $80K and G Wagen at $180K.

Somehow now the spin doctors and our ridiculously overblown economy have made $80K for a 4x4 sound like good value!

I think my 2009 Defender is great, it doesn't have any serious issues and I expect to keep going well for a long time.
But, it can't pass modern crash and safety tests, which is essential for a successful design.
I also like tech, such as in our Mazda, and I think generally good tech is at least as reliable as mechanical systems, if not more reliable, and fixable to anyone who looks for answers.
So, I would buy a new Defender with reliable mechanical systems, crash safety and good tech.
Also, it needs to have mainstream versions in the $50-70,000 range, which is where the action is for utes and other 4WDs.
If LR can produce a mechanically reliable, crash safe vehicle with good tech and a range of engines including a hybrid in the $50-70,000 range I reckon it will be a huge success.
    I'm optimistic.

Agree Disco Mick, if it's $50-$70K yes. If it's $70K+ it's not good value.

Well i can guarantee in your eyes it won't be good value.

We will have to wait and see.

I recon it will be well over $70K.Thats sort of 70 series prices,($65 to $78K)and it will be a class above those.

And for others,as i said,to replace my poverty pack D4 with an equivalent D5 is not around $100K,its well over that.

LC200 is in the $85 to $115K bracket, depending on deals, fleet discounts, etc, these will be around new Defender prices i recon.

But the Deefer will be a much more modern, capable, complicated, and comfortable vehicle than a 200 at a guess.

    And the guessing continues

Value means different things to different people. Today I saw a MY19 L405 Autobiography SV (standard wheel base) parked at IKEA. Carsales indicates this is about $360k drive away. Mind blowing.
    L322 tdv8 poverty pack - wow
Perentie 110 wagon ARN 49-107 (probably selling) turbo, p/steer, RFSV front axle/trutrack, HF, gullwing windows, double jerrys etc.
Perentie 110 wagon ARN 48-699 another project
    Track Trailer ARN 200-117

And the worse thing is the owner will lose well over $100K,possibly even $150K in the first 5 yrs of ownership.

    Ridiculous,IMHO.

But on the other hand, some have millions to throw around.

EDIT thinking more about this, i recon it would be close to $200K,lost in first 5 yrs.
