Dont get me wrong mate. I'm keen. I like the idea of having no electricals below dash level if they can achieve it. I have never been keen on dash shift. 3 front seats would be interesting but I cant see it being comfy unless the Deefer was very wide and that would be a negative in tight trails and with close in bush etc. Cheers

Looking at the pic I have to say that it looks ugly in my eyes, BUT as always - I want to see it in person before I make a final decision.

If the pic is real - then it's interesting that they have mounted the auto on the dash. This says to me (at least for this pic) - no manual, and a centre front seat?

The Dash also looks entirely digital - which would be cool, but could present problems many years down the track..

And obviously a LHD picture - so aimed (I am guessing) at the American market? Hence the Jeep looking dash...?

Lot's a to be a bit of a retro, chunky look too me..

My local LR dealer, who had seen the new model some months ago, said that it had a centre dicky seat in the front. He said it looked and worked great.
He also said it had round headlights unlike the rest of the LR range...
    Cheers,

That pic is really interesting. As an extra tall bloke, the idea of being able to move my knee towards the centre of the vehicle is incredibly welcome. Even though this vehicle is clearly unfinished it seems likely that there’ll be a dirt-friendly option for everything below the seat line. No surprise the transmission is purely auto and I don’t mind a bit apart from a little nostalgia.

Worries... the gear shifter seems to block the drivers access to the big dials. Touch screens are a PITA when you’re bouncing around off-road. Probably auto-activating electric park brake will get excessive workout when going into Park to get out and inspect a track.

I don’t agree with whoever was worried about the all-digital dash. We’ve been shipping flat panel displays to consumers in the billions for the past decade and more. They’re good, durable and cheap to replace, generally speaking. Just get used to running software updates on your car on a regular basis.

    Agreed

Found this online regarding the pic

Update: I reached out to Land Rover’s PR people here in the U.S., who informed me that this was “not part of a PR operation” and that the image in question is an “older out-of-date internal photo.” But as to how old, and in what way it is out of date, company reps declined to comment on.

Discussion of forbidden interior that's name shall not be spoken

I don't mind the this dash - but it looks like the role of the person in the centre dicky seat is to operate the air conditioning. And why did they steal the gearstick from the Prius?

Edit: and is it just me, or does that accelerator look awfully close to the centre tunnel?

My brother in law in Japan has an Edix with three seats across the front and this Defender looks a lot like that.

Maybe that's why the long-wheelbase pilot build looks so short?
