Or maybe ARB,TJM and other reputable bullbar makers have it all wrong and should start making pipe bars
Agree, however just explaining reasons for design after researching bullbars in the uk

regarding the checker plate - I am not entirely familiar with the older models.... is the checkerplate on the part of the bonnet that opens, or on the guard which doesn't open ? On this newer incarnation it looks to be on the opening part (I could be wrong)... would that imply additional strengthening in the bonnet?

Imo this design was chosen due to "bullbars" being banned in some Euro countries due to pedestrian impact. They have probable made the most aggressive possible bar that can be purchased in all markets......says BR

seriously .....do you really believe this?

Have you heard of ARB , ECB ,Tuff?

Do you think they would build a bar like that?

regarding the tyres shown in the vegas shot. they appear to be Pirelli Scorpion Zero in 255/60 R20. I cannot find any pirelli tyre in this size, so must be a new tyre especially for the new vehicle?

I would 100% run that until something better came allong
My RRC runs a front tube bar, I have wanted to mod it with the light surrounds just like this.
Puts me in mind of the D2 "brush bars". They're so robust I have 2 of them leaning against the house! I'm going to fit a plastic "Smart Bar" to the D2.

I am a sit back, smile and nod kind of guy... 150k views on this thread is quite ridiculous though but obviously an emotional subject, to me it will be what it will be, I have 2 Defenders have had 5 I think... a SVX that has been converted to a camper/round the world vehicle in about 4 years and a Camel Trophy 110, wont sell them but might buy the new one for some luxury... see what happens...

Bars are banned in some countries because they can harm pedestrians and interfere with airbags.
The centre section of that bar looks okay, it's only the wings are light.

I reckon a fair chunk of the outrage re this photo is the poxy pearl green paint colour. It might look a hell of a lot nicer in a solid colour, white, that toyota light mustardy colour or even a modern rendition of Bahama Gold...

Also once all the gear is added to this shot, 2inch bulge, checker, barwork, snorkel, muddies and in high mode im sure it will look tough.
