    What does this mean.

This morning whilst takeing my to work, i noticed something on the display for the auto heating.

Next to the outside temp there was what appeared to be a picture of a book and an exclamation mark. Never seen this before, any ideas what it could mean. I looked in the manual but there was nothing there to tell me what it is.

If you see a book symbol on the heating and ventilation control panel, it is likely to mean blend motor issues. There are three blend motors tucked within the dash and they control the air blending and distribution (left to right and up/down).

They're not easy to access (PITA), but can be replaced with half a day and available instructions. New blend motors are around $300.

Best to diagnose whether this is the issue first off. There is plenty of info on here and on RR.net, on the subject.

This is the infamous and too often encountered "book symbol". It means there is some kind of problem with the HEVAC system

Usually blend motors or it could be a failing RL7 in the fusebox

"The climate control display shows a book symbol when certain faults occur, including a lack of Freon in the system, failed inside or outside air temperature sensors, failed heater matrix temp sensor (see below) and failed blend motors. "

It could be an easy reset, or it could be something a little more complex. If it appears again the next few times you go for a drive, might pay to find a friend with a Faultmate, etc, and suss it out.

I had my first book symbol recently. Plugged the Faultmate in and it was an intermittent heater core temp sensor short.

    I'd check relay 7 first. It's a common thing.

Found relay 7 and there are no signs of any faults or burning.

What i did find is that relaya 3,4 and 5 are missing. Is this important and should i get them fitted.

It powers the blower fans and blend motors

It is in the fusebox under the bonnet and is the one in the front on the drivers side

    Hi

Don't add any more relays some are for the diesel models and some are for things like the heated windscreen and NAS options
