How are all the repairs going Andy?
Just got back from a high country trip, was great to be back out bush again and have the Landy all fixed up.
I replaced the damaged rear koni shocks but this time I had them custom valved to better suit airbags and the heavy load. Happy with the result, less sway at speed and very good ride, will have to get the fronts done now.
With the trailing arms, after a lot of research, I ended up making them myself as I wasn't happy with any of the fabricated ones available which are all made the same way. The weak point is the circumference weld at the chassis end which "ring barks" the tube creating a heat affected zone. The oem arms use a far superior method of spin or friction welding but as we know the tube is a bit light and can bend. Solution is to simply sleeve the stock arms and I also cranked them in my bender. Worked a treat. This is what the Gwyn Lewis arms are, only about $450 less.
What's that 'sender' thingy attached to the top of the trailing arm?
Height sensor for the air suspension ;-) Thinking I could make more if anyone interested![]()
