I'll be following this with interest as i will soon be fitting out the rear of my D2 for touring soon.

For a lighting solution I fitted four 7W eagle eye LED lights to the bottom of the rear window brake light housing and also to the rear trim above the rear door opening.

The outer eagle eye on the far right of the housing could possibly be shimmed/angled so it casts it's beam further out to accomodate your extended drop down table.

    Cheers
They look nice and bright, do you think four of them would be good enough for reverse lights?

I was thinking about putting four in the rear bar spaced out a bit like rear sensors.

Can't see why not Neale. I think you can get then in a 9W version which is reasonably bright. I replaced my reverse bulbs with 9W CREE bulbs - big improvement over the standard bulbs.

I also built this stand below, which bolts onto the rear wheel carrier with 2 X 700 Lumen CREE lights. It can be selected to come on when reverse is selected and can also be independently switched from the dash or the rear of the cargo area at the switch panel shown in the above post. There's is a bit of mucking around with diodes to enable 3 way switching but easy enough to do.

Great idea but I don't have much room behind the spare wheel (standard D1 steel)
    Love the chrome stand

Where did you get those bolts from or did you make them?

Did you have to space the spare out to fit this? How?

Chrome??? Pfft! .... That my man is Marine Grade 316L Stainless Steel

Bolts/stand are made by myself .... Just well two bolts together with a washer at the desired length.

No need to space the spare out either Neale, 25mm RHS just fits with a wee bit of clearance with a 265/75/16 BFG KM2 tyre on the carrier.

Wiring runs up the inside of the RHS, comes out of the back door through the windscreen washer pipe grommet ... east as mate.

Is the washer on the D2 near the wiper? On the D1 it is on the left pillar up high

Looks like I have some measuring to do to see if it fits.

    Back on topic....
Still waiting for the sheet to turn up, you have to love Tasmanian freight service.
So in the mean time i got to work inserting the M6 rivnuts (14 in total). I cant get over how handy they are to use. Didn't worry about the tool just used a bolt, nut and washer.

    Cheers Rob.

Apologies for the off topic bit Rob

Good see a bit of progress. I found the bolt method of fixing rivnuts a bit fiddly myself, doable but fiddly - I couldn't justify buying a tool.

Ghost, may I make a suggestion?

Your pics are on an external website. If access to that website is changed (as it has been in the past), or you move the images, they will disappear from your thread. That would be a great pity.

I suggest you use the Manage Attachments feature when you write your posts and upload them to the site. They are far less likely to disappear.

If you can't go back and edit the earlier posts to upload the images, I can do that for you.
