    Thank you Murray.

There was a large bushing in the rear a frame ball joint that I had replaced and that has completely changed the car. Backlash dramatically reduced. I now want to change those triangle looking bushes in the rear diff links and see how that goes.

My vision for this car is changing. It has gone from a cheap 4x4 for bashing around into a bit more, I am now attached to it and looking at what more can be done!

Todays job is to start a little bit of rubbing down the interior floor pan, paint where needed and then apply 'Jing Ping' - a chinese version of Dynamat. From there it is using the current carpet as a template and making new carpets from black marine grade carpet.

Undecided what to do in the rear, either rubber matting everywhere or lay down wooden boards.

I also have some grey headlining material to apply over the old cards and see if that freshens it all up!

Bit of an update. The car is registered on club plates! It is running ok, hard to start but once started she is ok. I think she has more to give as far as power but not sure what I can do. I am not sure why it is so hard to start, even with the choke all the way out it takes many attempts.

Other little things are happening, I am applying jingping sound deadening throughout and have removed the gross old headlining and had a go at recovering in a light grey to modernise it inside.

Tomorrow's plan is to remove the pto winch and cradle so I can start to make a bumper with a pto cradle built in.

Its hard to start and down on power possibly because it is too lean. Likely suspects are incorrect needle height or float height. This needs to be verified and rectified asap as the engine will be damaged/ run hotter.

Ahh frustrating as! It has just come back from a LR specialist getting the carbies tuned! Any other possible culprits?

    Hi Paul.
My headlining is sagging and I'm pretty impressed with your trimming effort. Where did you get the material/fabric from to recover?
And how did you go about it?

Hi mate, I got it from ebay, 5 meters of foam backed light grey for around $150.

Applying it I just ripped the old carpet off carefully, sanded back the boards and wire brushed them to get them smoothish.

Applying the headlining I used clarke rubbers better version of quick grip spray. Apply it to both surfaces and do half of the headlining at a time. Takes some wiggling and manipulation but it gets there in the end.

When I am on the computer I will link the eBay listing for the fabric.

Today was a mixed bag, buggered up the second piece of headlining, not sure what i will do about it.. wrinkled and very crap looking.

On the plus I removed the pto winch and horrible alloy bullbar and fitted a steel bumper temporarily while my brother and I try to make a bullbar/bumper around the winch cradle. Similar to what rijidij does, but not as fancy.. I would love a rijidij one but can't front the bill at the moment.

And I also had the worst oil change experience I have ever had! The sump plug was on so tight I needed about 600mm of steel bar as leverage on the spanner, then the oil filter was on so tight I thought the tool was going to rip the filter to bits. As I was undoing it I dropped it right into the oil catch bucket and now my driveway has a massive stain to add to the collection.
The oil was black as anything so glad I did the change. I also added an oil flush before swapping to hopefully clean it out. My funnel then slipped as I was filling it up and essentially poored oil all over everything! Simple job turned nightmare!

How many litres should it take?

I reallllly want to get out in it now!

Thanks Justin, if it was running lean wouldn't pulling the choke right out get it started pretty easily?

It always starts, just takes about 10 attempts. Gettibg frustrated as it has been in twice for carby related issues.

Not if the float height is too low.

Having got our V8 sorted, the choke always needs to be out and it starts first time, after about 5 mins its running normal. I did get it sorted by someone who knows what there doing. What Carbs do you have in there?
