once you have time, can you post more pictures? it's my next project and i'm very interesed in it.

Do you put the lt230 to the Allison or not yet?

And what abt the brackets? do you make a sub-frame for the motor or not?

    Hi Joan,
I have made all the brackets and adaptors for mounting the LT230 to the allison. I want to strip the LT230 and go through it so hence it has not been re-installed. I cut off the original TD5 mounts and made my own engine mounts. I will post some pics next week when i have something worthwhile to post. Are you contemplating something similar or have a 130 project?

    Hi,

I want to do it in my 110 td5 2001. But here in spain not it's easy to purchase a duramax with the allison ( necessary to import from US ) for that I want to be sure about the conversion, and purchase all the necessary in one shot.

As I can understand the adaptors are home-made, have been difficult to manufacture? ... well I have a lot of questions but I don't want to disturb you, step by step....

    txs

Australia is hard to source duramax's to but i was fortunate that a guy had bought one to replace his 6.0ltr in his H2 Hummer and changed his mind. I have had to draw my adaptors (lots of hours) in CAD and get a mate to CNC them as the likes of Marks 4wd where not interested in helping out because i was not buying Toyota stuff. I was thinking of maybe of offering gear as a kit but i really wanted to drive and test it for 12 months at least to make sure i had reliability sorted out. So many things need modifying to get this motor in as it is physically bigger compared to the older chev 6.2 - 6.5 diesel. Also the body is required to be lifted to get the required clearances. A 6.2 - 6.5 fits in a lot easier but i know which one i will prefer!

G'day mate. I considered this option when i was looking to source adaptors nad ruled it out on a couple of things. 1st - rear output is inline with the input shaft so meant for a centre rear diff.(perfect for a Pootrol?) 2nd - Part time 4wd. After driving the rangies and defenders i like the constant 4wd for the loose gravel. A land rover with constant 4wd is a lot more stable over a Tojo or nissan in the bush.

    Hi Andy,
I can't remember exactly! The rear drum on the transfer case does not have much clearance between it and the front of the rear floor.

    Radiator shroud

Bit of progress over Xmas. Installed the radiator and made an alloy shroud for it. Bloody tight fit. Also been working on the radiator inlet/outlets to get them right.

Would of been lot easier if using electric fan but wanted to use original fan as i dont want any cooling issues.
