Have you had a Repairable write off put back on the road before????
Reason i ask, in Vic the car has to brought back to original condition as it left the factory... no dints, paint perfect.... it has to be really good.....
Proving a 130 or any 110 is slightly rough from the factory is not easy.... in Vic they want it perfect.
I hope NSW is alot easier...

We have got 1 or 2 passed before without too much hassle ( we once had a delay when someone left a number out of a vin on a recipt). The car must be in roadwothy condition - no structual damage or sharp corners. i havent heard of the as-new bit before, but i haven't tried to pass a poorly repaied car either.
I will have it blue slipped tomorrow morning, then expect a 2 or 3 week delay before it gets inspected by the repairable writeoff people in penrith (check for stolen parts and dodgey repairs). In this time, the car will be resprayed, and have some of the extras fited.
I am all for the crack down on dodgey people who put cars back on the road, that shouldnt be there, and sell them to someone unsuspecting. Just look at the pickles auction catalouge, some of those cars should be stat write offs, but the insurance companys get more if they sell them as repairers.
Apart from a small pull foward on the b pillars, every bit of damage has been a bolt on job.

The plan is for Andrew and myself to drive in at the end of November - a tight schedule. Drive in and fly out. What do you think our chances are with the wet?
If we catch the early flight out to Cairns can we swag on your floor and grab an early lift to the airport![]()

Finish the alignment,
Install windscreen - Andrew is now also a glass fitter
Fit and align final doors
replaced door seals
tidied up carpet inside
All this will be disassembled again for painting but it is most important to align everything up.
Overhaul rear wheel bearings -
The inner oil hub seal had already been removed allowing the bearings to run in oil. The bearings looked OK buy I replaced them regardless. The hub oil seal was the single lipped type without retaining springs. These were upgraded.
I withdrew the axle and we spotted some water droplets - condensation so I replaced the oil there and then. This seemed as new with no signs of milkyness or water at the bottom as often happens. Another job - raise the diff breather to above tray height.
Checked all lights, washers, wipers, horn, ...... all the stuff for a rego check. Andrew added a numberplate light temporarily.
We started into the stash of bits I picked up yesterday.
Tomorrow maybe a blue slip, depending on some paperwork.
Here in Sydney there is normally a 2-3 week lead time between the blue slip (roadworthy check) and the RTA authenticity check. The inspectors go over the whole vehicle looking for stolen or dodgy parts used to carry out repairs. They have photos and a damage report of the vehicle from the insurance company. They require a paper trail of all parts used, going back to the previous registered owner or a wrecking yard stock number or a new parts receipt. An Ebay receipt for a mudguard is not acceptable unless it comes with a VIN number, the name and phone number of the previous owner and a receipt stating that. They also look for structural repairs such as cut & shuts or chassis repairs etc.

All fixed now.
