I might have a 80" by the end of this weekend or Andy will have some spare parts.
    Might even be a 48'
There are a few landies on this farm and they all need to be saved from the scrapper!

It is important to be realistic and not to denigrate the marque. Early S1 people are looking for decent money, in the rare event that they want to sell their early S1 and that is because they are worth it. Look at prices in the UK and look at early jeep prices. You will get what you want, provided you are prepared to pay fair market price for it. There are not many decent early S1 available below $10K and they are worth more. Early S1 values cannot be compared to the value of derelict shooting rig S3.

I think they are worth what you are prepaired to pay for them.
What price would you put on a totally unrestored 80"? I mean like a real beat up farm hack but relatively complete?

48's arent worth much Cliffy. Too small, slow, only 1600cc, hard to get bits for etc etc.

What you really want is a nice series three from the Leyland years. Now that's land rovering at its finest.

I will swap you a carton of bush chooks for anything of interest!

    Andy.

Well, this is why you cannot get them. Overseas buyers are prepared to pay decent money for them. They are going overseas at a rapid rate because overseas buyers have decent money to spend with no hassles, when many Australian ockers offer a slab of beer for a square bulkhead 48 and hassle and winge about that. It is bad for Australia and reflects badly on Australians level of intelligence and respect. Soon, you will not find a ring pull land rover at all, but it is probably best that they go to those that are proper custodians of them.

Yeah, us Okker Aussies don't deserve to have the vehicles that were marketed towards farmers and explorers.
Poms will spend more on a Pommy vehicle and Bogans will spend $$ on 75' Torana's. I understand you cherish the marque but I think it's great that an enthusiast still has a chance to luck onto a "rare" vehicle and good on him if he does!
We have the Internet today. If a seller is financially motivated, he can easily get an idea of how much a vehicle is worth using Google.
    Rant over...!

Do you know of one for sale? My mate had one but is was too slow and struggled to pull his boat off the beach. It eventually snapped in half from rust and overloading. We still got $70 off the scrappie for it though so not all bad.

Would be good with a 186 and high speed diffs.

I do have a couple off kingers down the back. All rusted to buggery, got a HK Brougham with a red hot 186 in it. Apparently from a Torana, goes like sh*t off a shiny shovel. Its only a paddock basher now so could use that engine if the rite Landy turned up.

This is the question I have been asking. There was one last week on Gumtree in SA a farm hack not a single straight panel it started and could be driven onto a trailer price $500 all there even had a pto. It was only on Gumtree for 2 days and disapeared. Then there is a 48 ringpull in Mildura on carsales .com been there for ever it is restored mechanicly only and the owner wants $12,800 it would require a lot more work to get to fully restored. Recently in Perth there have been 2 very nicely restored 80's sell for around $12,000 fully restored in immaculate condition. I can see the value here a fully functioning vehicle that someone has spent hundreds of hours working on and the price is reflected in the amount of work thats been put into them. Then there was the 80 in Warwick QLD that had 45 g spent on it going for $15,000 but they holdenised it WHY?
I myself think a complete vehicle unrestored to be worth up to $3000 depending on condition with most paddock jobs around $500.
    Mike
