I have just looked at all the contemporary Series 1 pictures in John Smith's book, and all of them have hooks similar to the ones in 1011's picture. However, I also noted that no hooks were fitted to vehicles sold as hardtops or utes, presumably these being fitted with alternative corner cappings, and I suggest that maybe these hooks are being sold for owners changing to canvas tops.

1-2. did the final touch up of the front windscreen frame by drilling in two holes for the forward straps n buckle, again not sure why these holes were not available on this windscreen frame, but all sorted for a rainy day. two rivets hold the piece onto the windscreen frame, job done.
might move onto the throttle linkages next weather permitting of course
1. throttle linkage in on driver side so now the foot pedal moves and springs back into position as normal
2. pass side needs two linkages which is now ordered. one from the bulkhead to the pivot point.
3. other little one needed to bolt to the base of the carby
4. made a small cable to connect both headlights together as part of the wiring loom
1. choke cable - ended up buying another from repco, fitted works well
2. battery clamps bought not sure i will use these but looking into options for securing the battery, just will need a top plate to hold battery down across the top of the battery should be easy enough to knock something up for it.
I've got various battery hold down bits and pieces which may suit.

1. Houston we have ignition (well lights actually)
2. without lights, dash is kinda done for now, just desperate to get this thing done. just needs one wire for the ignition to be sorted onto the coil distributor, so nice not to have to temp connect wires to start her up in the future. hopefully my wiring for the ignition is all ok (not tested yet)
3. did a very quick look around to find some steel to make a battery bracket, not pretty but it works for now. battery is secure till a find something more appropriate.
decided to keep the radiator that came with the car, just have to sort out the exhaust and the clutch issue and i could be mobile
I would be careful with that metal strap like that if the battery dose move you could have a big bang if the two terminals come in contact with the strap.:thumbsdown:Quote:
