All points noted on the battery bracket, will change but will do for now if i can get the thing mobile in the home. Xtreme if you were closer I would collect, thanks for the offer mate.

Had a mental block on doing the clutch but did it today. Whilst standing on my heels on the press plate fingers with some resistance it does move down millimeters. How can i test the press plate? Any suggestions please

1. clutch as was installed
2. from my readings the correct way round

3. measured gap of 8-9mm between fingers and the top of press plate, is this normal ?
4. is this the correct way round now?

5. with my clutch alignment tool installed ready to go if the press plate is good
6. flywheel look ok?

1-2. fitted the clutch press plate right way round. BUT the fingers seem like they are pushed in more. while fitting i could feel the pressure plate springs pushing back on the flywheel till bolted up. does this seem look ok?

Joe the 1st photo the clutch plate is correct flat part to flywheel. the 2nd & 4th photo the plate is not correct you have the raised part to flywheel.

If you take the pressure plate to a clutch specialist they will be able to test it , you could get them to look at the clutch plate also. Would be best to also take the flywheel as well that way they can test it assembled .

What your saying 1950Landy is I had it in the correct way round (first time prior to removal today) and now its bolted up the wrong way round! I have posted on UK site as well to see what they concur with then more action on this. I was sure it was in the wrong way round but maybe not.

1. axle strap is approx 10cm too short even though told this is the correct strap for swb S1 with std springs. I had taken 1 spring off mine to make it hopefully smoother ride so even shorter then std

2. with two straps in place was inching my way closer to the bolt holes to align for fitment

3. this front spring eye has nowhere to move
4. this rear spring eye can move backwards to help push the springs upwards to allow the axle strap to bolt up

5. casualty my three straps (thins ones i had) were mated up to help push the springs upwards when one gave way. have now removed all three to go and buy some heavy duty ones that can help put more force into reducing the gap.

Not sure this is normal but otherwise cannot get the damn thing on. It is on a lot of pressure so not sure how the ride will be like if i am compressing the spring gap like this instead of being in its natural relaxed state.

1. 680kg tie downs bought from bunnings to help out

2. needed two more smaller tie downs so total of 4 tie downs for this job

3. sweating like a pig but finally done on one side

4. completed rear view, now for the other side. at least i now know what I'm in for doing this job. will hopefully complete tmrw

Re the battery.
Wrap the tie down in several layers of electrical tape. problem solved.
I have my metal strap coated in Plasti dip. Expensive but good.
Mine was thick as old and that made it even better.

1. early start this morning to finish off the axle strap on pass side. so same set up as before 4 tie downs compress the spring and chassis gap to make axle strap fit, if they were a little longer (10cm) would of saved me a lot of time fitting them

2. job done.

next few jobs are exhaust system and the clutch to getting mobile, pushing on but it never seems to end. one day...

Getting conflicting messages re which way up, just to be sure, to be sure - which is the correct orientation please.

pic 1 or pic 2 - see the raised inner part of the clutch friction plate, Uk sites says pic 2.

My worrkshop manual quite clearly shows the first picture is correct. This applies to both my factory 2a manual (which will be the same) and Autopress S1 manual. Look at the cross section pictures of the clutch.
