Good Morning..
Everything with Rossco's hand brake assembly was seized. Heat and patience and everything came apart. Cleaned up and re assembled. Some bolts replaced (BSF) found a spring, and a few extra washers, as per the parts manual. New knob made from Brass rod. Threads on knob rod, cleaned up. The BSF tap and dies set, worth every cent......
Nah. Took a bit of Dremel grinding of the screws to get it out. Original off Rossco. Grind off Rivet and pull apart. Clean, rust converter, cold gal zinc, re assemble with BA screw and brass nut for easy pull apart and re clean of needed Then test on Multi Meter. Back on new chassis. Just in case, the square lugs are riveted via pins below. I thought they may have been threaded, as both were a bit loose. Tried to undo to no avail so I used a 4 inch nail, after adjusting point to tighten. It fitted perfectly into threaded recess, but didn't tighten. Squared off nail, light tap, and it all tightened up nicely.
Need to put a bit of Vaseline on the contact to stop them corroding if you are not taking on dusty roads . I found with my 80" I needed to pump the brake peddle a few times after it had been sitting for a while to get the brake lights to work , after a light smear Vaseline didn't have to do it any more.
Thanks. Actually just had a thought.... Bit of tyre inner tube to seal base and Two little seals on the arm, which would be held by spring would improve dust issues ????
Morning.
Rebuilt Fuel Tap/filter. Tap not in closed position for 40+ years. M8, 1.0 seemed closest I had, so gentle run down by hand, to clean up threads. Original cork bowl gasket.
Thanks for looking.
Bit of work needed to clutch arm. Arm had chewed 1/4 into round pin, and worn the round hole one side. Started welding pin, but decided to make new one and build up Hole.... Adjusting nut had no thread, so added extra nut and lock nut, as not sure if adjustor nut was threaded whole length.
