Oops! I made a big Boo-Boo on that chassis No, 27300350 would be the 349 th and not the 249th 1961 diesel RHD CKD, sorry about that only one digit out, but incorrect by 100 vehicles

The chassis sequence start at ***00001 on any model or type run in the Series vehicles and the Suffix letter after the No denotes all and any changes during production, my chassis No endswith a "D"suffix so it has recieved 4 production changes in the 2a LWB chassis manufacture run.

Stevep has the right idea, if the door windows have "Armourplate Safety Glass" in asmall circle etched on them above the Armourplate will be a small dot, that indicates the date the glass was made,and was the standard way dealers and traders dated a car,read 4 windows on a sedan and it would give you it's age, so a seller could not fool a dealer that his Holden/Falcon or what ever was 59 when 3 glasses read 57,with VW beetles you counted the turrets on the castle on the bonnet badge !!

We picked up Mary the weekend before last, thought you might like to see some photos. Spent the last two weekend cleaning her and removing all the non original bits and pieces, fixing the core plugs and writing a long list of things to do. I think she looks fantastic next to the defender!

Mary is a good name for Series 2a shorties

Lovely S2 you have got. My favourite landy.
I take it from your name you do a bit of Ham radio too. The S2 will be ideal for portable ops. No ECU's to create QRM, in fact bugger all electrics at all.
Operating mobile may be a little harder given the noise levels in the cab.
I had a S3 diesel for a while and my HEARING HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME. (Sorry was I yelling agin)

QSL Paul. I love to operate mobile and portable so once she is on the road the antennas might start to appear. I'm not sure but looking at the photo of your defender we might have meet at a ham fest this year? Might hear you around

Spend too much money on Land Rovers nowadays
My biggest bugbear is the QRM from modern vehicles. Plays bloody havoc with the Codan! Thats where a REAL land rover would be great
Be careful putting too many radio goodies in your S2, they are about as hard to break into as a wet paper bag.
