Well my teeth are now a little sore as I "bit the bullet" and bought this little thing!! 😆

It is getting dropped off at the depot in Perth in the next 48 hours and will spend the next 2 weeks making its way here to Brisbane!

I am going over seas (NZ) for 6 weeks from the 1st of Feb so hopefully it arrives with enough time for a few laps around the block prior to my departure.

Busy times ahead....

The Door tops are adjustable .........usually by taking them off and bending the bolts slightly

Nice looking unit - I have no doubt that you will love your new arrival!

As for the doors - it could be almost anything, but the good news is that there is a bit of adjustment possible with the doors.

There are 4 hinges (2 on the door bottoms and 2 on the door tops) and you can adjust these plus use washers as spacers as well.

The door tops bolt (2 bolts) to the door bottoms, with a rubber strip between. So you can play around and adjust that as well.

The door top sections - which are almost ALWAYS rusted. The bottoms can also rust. There are repair parts available depending on how bad the rust is - and your skills!

You can by replacement tops and bottoms new - or source them second hand units. The Ho Hars on here sell second hand parts.

Remembering that it's an old car - and a Land Rover at that - so the doors will never line up perfectly!!!

I thought this would be the case with the door uppers and it's good to know it 'could' be an easy fix.

I'm sure there will be many more surprises awaiting me when it arrives so I'm sure I will have many questions.

My drivers door does that. I tried the easy 'bend over a piece of wood' trick which worked for a while, but it got worse again. turns out the metal in the door top was so thin due to corrosion it just ended up splitting.

I'm currently in 2 minds whether or not just to get a new door top, or weld in a new section of steel. Probably won't know til I cut into it.

Its one of those things I too will just have to work out whwn it finally arrives.

Its finally at the teansport yard in Perth and should be here in 14 days... Unfortunately I am going to New Zealand for 6 weeks. Im sure I will be having too much fun to really care though!!

Aftermarket replacement doortops are readily available. I have "Rocky Mountain" aluminium ones on one of my Series 3's. A bit $$, but totally transforms the driving experience.

Talk to FWD at yerongpilly, they might still have some bits and pieces there, but if not, call the ho hars, I can give you their phone number if you need it.
