Does that 525/83 number cast into the head have any relevance to date of manufacture?

    rear tail gate

was that a spare dark green tailgate in one of the pics?
desperately chasing one as my tail gate is torn badly and not in good nic.

dont worry about the colour its actually dark green underneath!

if you can let me know if you want to sell it that would be great!

    Hi mate,

I'll sell it at some point but just want to make sure the one that's fitted is a good one. Remind me in the next few months.

Don't know how much these go for so can anyone post up a fair price based on selling to a fellow LR enthusiast?

    Gents,

I have never stripped a gearbox or differential, has anyone got any tips on carrying out this work?
Where is the best place to get spare parts?
If it's not a job for someone who has never carried out such a task where in Brisbane/Gold Coast do people recommend?

    Thanks Colin,
    I have a 1959 series 2 here with a cracked head.
Now I know why it has occurred.

    Hi Mick,
Southside Wreckers, Murwillumbah, has (6?) new, blank, boxed Cylinder heads.
    Themadmob, got one for $100.
Pretty sure is was the number listed in this thread.
I was after a later 8.1, and came across them in the back room.

Is Vic There, I am in the process of rebuilding a Series 3 gearbox and currently have it totally stripped. So far it has been very easy. The last (and only) gearbox I ever worked on was in an EJ Holden nearly 4 decades ago.

Next week I will post a few pics in the Series 3 forum of the problems I have found and keep you updated on the reassembly. All the bits I have needed have come from Rover Parts I have no complaints at all about these folk, I have ordered online and everything has turned up in the mail on time.

So, my tip on the gearbox (so far) is do it yourself, save money and learn about it, but hey, mine ain't back together yet
