Thanks for the link Crackers, when I get to work I'll be hitting the nuts and bolts with penitraiting oil

Read your thread to the end, well done mate, better than watching telly!

On another point, what is the light green that older LR's were painted, the colour the Heritage is based on now, that's the colour my Son what's it painted!

The early early ones I think were Avro Anson 'cockpit green'. Don't go spraying it on until someone confirms though!

Don't worry Mr Dark I'm a good year away from applying paint!

Had a good chat with The ho har's this morning who are basically just are just down the road from me, plan is to sand blast and prime the bulkhead then take it round to theirs for repair!

No rush as the plan is to get the chassis restored first then the drive axels and brakes, this should take me up to early next year.

We had a good go at taking the bulkhead off on Saturday but couldn't get the steering wheel, one large bulkhead bolt out and the steering shaft loose enough to get free! Spent the last two days hitting it with penetrating oil and then this afternoon applied some heat and a bloody big breaker bar, hey presto she turned!

So its all ready to lift from the chassis, don't want to steel the lads thunder and will wait until Saturday morning so he can do it with me!
Then the bulkhead will be blasted and primed and its off to the The ho har's for some love and attention! (obviously the Bulkhead)

Had another great day on the Landy, very impressed with my lad, first thing he did was to go to the tool box and get all the 7/16 1/2 9/16 5/8 spanners and sockets we needed, then I showed him what needed to come off and he got to it!

I tackled the ugly box section fence post that had been welded to the front part of the chassis, first I took the bolt on steering damper off and cut out the box section that must have been to mount spotlights, easy job with a cutting disc! Then the box section, now this took a few hours due to the position and the size of the grinder I was using, in the end we managed to get it off. It uncovered that the chassis was split, I thing that originally they had bolted the steering damper through the chassis this has put to much stress on it and its eventually split near the bolt holes.

This is a picture of my lad just finishing off the fire wall, just need to get it blasted this week and then its off for repair!

Engine and box out next week!

Not a bachelor are you? I'm just wondering because the lad's working on your car wearing a white shirt

That front box section looks like a... challenge. How are you going to handle it?

Lots of people seem to be getting the firewall sand blasted. What sort of cost are we talking about?

    Hi Crackers,
Going to cut the whole section out and either fabricate a new section or buy a replacement. Should know this week how much the sand blasting will be, I'll let you know.
