Hi all
I am replacing the existing lap seat belts with inertia reel seat belts, but I am not sure where to mount the inertia reel part on my 64 hardtop wagon.
Is it somewhere on the rear bulkhead?
Any pictures would be greatly appreciated
Thanks heaps

This is where they are in the SIII Stage 1.
On the back side of the panel there is an aluminium reinforcing panel (double skin) about 3" X 4" spot welded to the transom. (you could use Sikkaflex adhesive or pop rivet it in place or use one of the steel reinforcements that used to be standard.)
In the perentie, they are at the outer edge of the little shelf where the seat box bolts on, however if you have a fuel filler this will obstruct the belt and is possibly the reason the Stage 1 location.
(I'm assuming your's is not a 5 door wagon.)
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Here's a picture of the inertia reel seatbelt mounted in a Series III.
The top brackets are part numbers 395586 & 395587. I can't find exactly the same type of lower brackets to mount the inertia reel in my parts manual.
If yours is a single cab there was a discussion thread somewhere about the correct brackets. Can't seem to find it, it may have been in the Wanted section and the info is now lost ?
Not sure if you really need an engineer to approve (technically, maybe yes). Fit the Series III parts and claim it was always like that......

Thank you Colin!
Mine is a Series 2a two door wagon. I have previously restored a Series 3 109 ute cab and that is why I was little confused as to the location of the inertia reel on the 109 wagons as I remember mounting the inertia reel on the rear bulkhead on the Series 3.
I have the top corner brackets.
I found part # MTC4090 for the mount for the inertia reel. There is also part # MRC8524 which attaches to MTC4090, but this might be used on later models like the County.
Thanks!

"Fitting New Seatbelts to a s3 109 Truck Cab"
This was the title of the thread and it was in the series 3 section re the seatbelts for the cab - I've gone blank re posting the link. You should be able to find it if you search for it bottom left.

Hello D and 86Mud + Other interested parties,
That link goes to a Truck cabin style and they have the curved glass in the corner that causes problems if the correct bracket that looks like a big rectangle that runs parallel with the door pillar is not fitted. Because 86Mud's vehicle is a hardtop it has a straight side wall and this means the diagonal brace that Gromit took a photograph of is correct for the front seat passengers in the hardtop. I would not have a clue how the seatbelts are arranged for the rear seat passengers.
The photographs below only relate to truck cabin inertia seat belts with only seating capacity for 2.5 people sitting on the one and only row of seats.
First photo is the main bracket taken off a vehicle, 2nd photo is the seat belt top anchor point, 3rd photo shows the top of the main bracket and a right-angle bracket that secures the main bracket to the cabin. 4th photograph shows a row of three small bolts near where the door closes and one main anchor bolt going into the tube at the bottom. In the case of the truck cabin the reel is fitted on the back wall just behind the seat, as shown in Diana's photograph
Otherwise going to the Truck Cab link would only cause confusion - of which I was the major culprit, my apologies for those past errors, Dark
My hardtop that forms the background in the second photograph has a static belt which only has a hole drilled through the door pillar and an anchor bolt that goes through the outside wall, through the pillar and then through the anchor hole in the seatbelt and this holds everything in place. The vehicle was registered at one stage so it must have been good enough for Queensland Transport to let it past its safety certificate in the distant past.
Hopefully this message relating to Truck Cabin style inertia seat belts clears things up in relation to my efforts on a different thread
To conclude Colin's photograph with red oxide diagonal bracket is the correct fitting for the driver's inertial reel seatbelt in a hardtop.
Kind Regards
Lionel
