Firstly i would like to say after waiting a few years and after a few let downs i FINALLY got my hands on a 2A SWB 2.25 Diesel. I also got a 109 Ex military Land Rover as a bonus!
and i must say i got them for a great price
.
Well i am in the process of (roughly) planning my rebuild, it will have to be on a tight budget as i am only living off a casual income and own too many Land Rovers. But come imagine parting ways with any of them!
Here is a list of the things i have seen which need working on or replacing.
Brakes:
Master Cylinder
4x Wheel cylinders
And New Brake shoes all round
Suspension:
All new rubbers
New limiting straps
(i plan on cleaning up the original leafs as they look to be in OK condition and living with the shocks)
Transmission:
The gearbox etc is in great order! which was a great surprise
Motor:
Cooling system leak
Other then that starts and runs well.
Exhaust:
There is about 1ft of pipe missing which will need replacing, not sure what condition the rest of the exhaust system is in.
Electrical:
Needs new Battery
And a good look over all as no lights are working could be as simple as bulbs or fuses.
Body:
Couple dents on front end
Paint well worn
Some rust spots nothing to dramatic need new passenger door top Driver side is in OK condition.
The rear cross member is in need of a replacement and i am yet to look at the rest of the chassie.
Conclusion:
Well the above is all the things i have have discovered there will no doubt be more problems along the way. The rebuild process is not to achieve a perfect example of a Series Land Rover more or less i just hope to get it back on the road as cheaply as possible and as reliable as possible.
I will post some pictures up tomorrow!
Kind Regards James.

I hope to move them up closer to the house as i don't trust having them on the property out of sight... plus its too far to go every time i just want to look at them.
James.
chassis number should be on the rear left shackle bracket. (ie: the upside down triangle bit on the chassis that the spring shackle bolts to) Take a wire brush and a rag - it will be buried under rust.
There should also be a nomenclature plate either in the dash (usually passenger side) or on the side of the seat box. It will look something like this:
What is a workshop? This.
Series 2A RAEME LAND-ROVERS -REMLR
This one is mine:

And this is what they look like when restored: (Dintys)
2A 109 Wshop restored -REMLR
Even if you don't plan on getting to it anytime soon, it would be handy to know what the numbers are.You never know - you might have one that went to Vietnam, or one that there are pictures of in the archives.
That shorty looks great too! What year is it? It's going to be a big job but I'm sure you will do it justice.
