Well cut the old chassis mounts off today & cleaned it all up..

    Passenger side

    Drivers side

Lifted the engine & gearbox in ready to tack the new mounts in..

This is very close to the final position , a bit of tinkering tomorow should have it right..

The oil filter is hitting so will sort that out aswell tomorrow aswell..

I tell ya what that cabstar 5 speed is quiet big.so is the engine but will all fit well when i'm finished..

I will try and get some photo's for you tomorrow Banjo. Do you mean images of the dumb irons? My radiator is out at the moment but I should be able to get clear images of the mounts and guard mounting brackets I think.

    Regards Warrick.

A couple of photo's that I have on file of engine bay showing radiator and right hand guard. I will try and get some closer detail tomorrow of the chassis mounts for both the radiator and front guards.

Is that a Holden 253 on the crane? Will you use a Stage One bulkhead or modify the original? Do you hang the motor on the crane and find the best position for the engine and gearbox and then weld on the engine mounting brackets? Always interested in how people locate engine and gearbox modifications.

    Regards Warrick.

Yes Please the dumb irons Have a bracket on them, Im assuming its what the radiator sits in & the rad surport bolts to at the bottom..Its the bits under the rad in the pics you posted...Thanks heaps..

Yes its a holden 253 & nissan 5 speed..Yeah i swing them off the crane to get it all lined up..I bolt the gearbox in at Tcase then i can move the engine up or down & left to righ to get it right.I also make sure the drive shaft is straight to the diff..I have noticed when the holden 6s are fitted they seem ti sit higher at the front so they are on an angle..When i have the engine in the right spot on this it should be on a slight angle to allow for the OLD bushes rubbers on the Tcase as they are sagged so when i rebuild the engine & box & put all new rubbers in it will sit nice & level I hope..I will mod the baulkhead where needed but i think its going to be very minimal mods.Find out when throw it on to see what needs what..
Wish i had a bloody garage its getin hot as out there in the sun & when i've been grinding i have had a few buckets of water around just incase some of the grass fires up..

Ok got the engine mounts made up for the chassis today .Got them tacked in & pulled the engine out & fully welded them in..The short one is the passengers side..& yes i know my welding is'nt the prettiest but i have'nt had anything break or fall off yet so it cant be to bad..
I will put some pics up of engine in if i get it in after T..

Wouldn't it have been better to weld a piece of flat plate against the side of the chassis before doing the mounts?
