All identification plates from the army I believe. Never had a proper explanation but I have all of them too.

My Uncle was in the army all his life, i will ask him when i see him next.

Best you head straight to the REMLR section on the forum, down the bottom of the page and ask away...if you give us the chassis number which is on the nomenclature plate... which is photo 3... and we can give the ARN number
and then you will start learning the history of the vehicle

The Mod Plate is an army modification record - the scratched out numbers mean that those modifications have been completed by an army fitter, or mechanic. One Modification I can remember was to pop-rivet all of the spot welds on the rear tool lockers, because the welds were failing in service. Because yours hasn't had many mods done, it might have been in a transport pool for most of its life and not had much use.

The lubrication plate tells the drivers what oil and grease to use and where to use it.

The nomenclature plate just describes what the machine is; when it was purchased; and describes the type of body and any unusual equipment fitted, such as a winch.

Hay well, I found time to get the sump off tonight. No obvious damage. I have looked up the bores and cant see any problems, all bolts are intact. My next move was going to be to turn the motor over while i look at the bottom end. Do you guys think it would be alright to do that with the starter, obviously with out starting it?

Any thing else i could try before i whip the head off?

That thing is great Chomby. I just love the rag tops. I have to get one for mine ( ha better get it going first ).

Was yours a rag top when you got it or have you done that?
