White smoke is usually unburnt diesel, often caused by a restriction to the air supply to the motor. Check your air intake hose that it hasn't laminated, then check your air filter.
    Looks a very nice car.

Looks nice. It would be very unusual for a Series Landrover to have the same key for any two keyholes, except perhaps right and left doors. I would definitely consult with a locksmith.

the car is Camino Gold, 6/1976 build, but I think the passenger door?? has been replaced by a later Bahama Gold door as it has the "Leyland" badge attached to it above the top hinge. Hey Matt, how did you go with cleaning it down last weekend?

    Cheers Ian

Didn't get to clean it, as Isaac has decided he doesn't want to sleep in the day!
I did make a start on it though, & managed to fix the leaks in the air filter at least.
I had wondered about the Leyland badge, but I have no idea when Leyland 'owned' LR.

Edit: I'd moved the pic's in the first post, forgetting I coudn't edit the post. So here they are:

On the trailer - Ezyrama very kindly towed it for me

    Arrived home

And here's the process with the air filter bowl so far:
    Cleaned up the base

    Large hole

    Found another small hole

    Brazed up

As you can see from my slightly dodgy brazing, once I'd burned more paint off doing the first 2 I found a number of other holes! I think I've got them all now though. Time to clean it up & give it a coat of paint.

Here's the plugged & painted oil bowl:

And the air intake pipe ready for spraying. I'm using Rust Guard one step by the way. Would use Hammerite but can't seem to get it in Oz.

It's currently hanging up to dry the first coat.

I'm also in the process of trying to de-grease the engine, main tank & gearbox area.
    Better get back to it.

Well, it'll want another going over I think, but it looks a lot better now:

Also did the main tank, gearbox etc.

It's none too easy to find the time between work, chores & daddy duties, but I feel like I'm progressing now.

Next jobs, in no particular order:
Give dirty areas a second de-grease.
Clean rocker breather & replace o-ring. I think this may be one leak source.
Figure out if & where the other end of the breather hose is supposed to be connected - currently it's swinging in the wind! Can anyone please tell me the answer?
    Bleed brakes.
Determine if main cylinder is leaking - get it fixed if it is (there was a viscous liquid on the brake pedal lever when I bought the car).
Figure out if / where main tank is leaking. Fix as required.
Replace near side headlight plug, refit headlight.
Obtain & fit new windscreen washer bottle & pump.
I'd like to fit a brake booster - but a bit of reading shows I need a vacuum. Can anyone tell me what parts I need to do that? I've had a trawl through the workshop manual but frankly am not sure I've understood - or found all the necessary info?

As the house was empty when I got home today, I took advantage & tried to do the breather. Only to find someone had attempted to seal it with mastic / silicone sealant or something!! AAARRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I've found the leak (well, one anyway) in the main tank. It looks like the weld split at the top edge, several inches back from the front. Someone's tried a fix with some form of epoxy(?) but it seems to be porous.
