    Lightbulb

Not very productive Land Rover weekend.
Sat spent on 250 Honda, new rear tyre, front suspension cleaned and new seals and dust boost added, then full clean and service of front brakes, which seem to be binding, which I discovered on gravel going to work on Monday. Hate hitting the road these days.
Then sun morning working on wifes Delica saving $500 on workshop quotr after failed Rego check

Lunch sun and ready to start welding. Welder popped and started smoking, the threw out safety switch.
    Diode burnt.
Can See Gav smiling. Don't worry, chassis maybe finished next weekend.
Cant find receipt so same again, Rossi 135 inverter stick or maybe 130/170 amp CIG inverter welder.
Any one have one of these CIG'S ? Happy with it.

So finished cleaning old Gal rim and painted, so 3 ready to get shod, make 5 new ones.

Just wondering what Gilbert would have been shod in, originally.
Would Running the 7.50x16 tyres on the 5.5 inch rims mean the speedo fitted to the 77SWB, will run correct ????
    Thanks for the replies.

I think so, but we need John to chime in and confirm it. I think all Series 3's had 750/16's but Imcould be wrong. I'm running the same sized rubber on mine, so hope so...

Series 3 swb Landrovers came as standard with 6.00x16 tyres on 5" rims - but I believe that all Australian assembled ones came as standard with 7.50x16 tyres on 5.5" rims, and had the lwb speedo to suit (except of course the "Game" ones, that had 15" rims - not sure what tyres though). One Ton Series 3 had 900x16, but I think it is now fairly certain that only one of these or possibly about three ever came to Australia.

Does that mean I can run 900x16's legally on my series 3 as they were a factory option?

I believe the answer would be yes - although the issue is likely to be that they were never sold like that in Australia as far as I know. Then, of course there is the issue of finding the 900x16 tyres - see various FC threads!

My 1975 and 77 S3's have the larger wheel studs and Nuts.
What year did the change come in and why did Land Rover upgrade them ?
    Thanks
