    SEATS

Not sure what these seats came out of, but guessing all the later ones are the same.
Had covers made, and will clip them as per Original. Can get the clips in town.
Just finishing off Timber bottoms. Ply thicker than original.

So this original one, shows small timber Bar, and remains of one of the two rubber stoppers.
The way the stuck foam come off suggest, rubber stoppers at the front.
Gilbert has the 6 L shaped brackets on the seatbox to stop them slipping forward.
Also three 'studs' on the seatbox and three on the Rear Bulkhead, to fix the leather holding straps in place.
With the stoppers at the front wouldnt the L bracket destroy them.
What is the correct way to fit the seats, and rubbers.
Also the larger part of the foam goes to the front ? 100% sure but.
    Thanks.

If the L bracket you mention is what I think it is, I've never seen one! Maybe an aftermarket addition to do what the leather straps are supposed to do but are not very good at.

I have a couple seat boxes here that have these L brackets. Both are s3. My s2a seat box doesnt have said L brackets. Maybe a s3 modification or rework??

The leather straps stop the seatbase lifting, on my SI, SIIa & SIII there is a strip of timber that stops the base sliding forward it hits against a couple of bolt heads but I have seen small metal angle brackets on the front bolts. I'd have to look at a couple of mine to see what they look like.
If the strap isn't in place the timber strip can ride up & over so the base slides forward.

The strap on it's own wouldn't stop the seat base from sliding forward if you were in an accident. This is long before anti-submarining seats were thought of.......

They are a bit thicker at the front Original Styles - Front Seating - Series III 1971 to 1985 - Series III - Shop by Model | Exmoor Trim

I have seen a moulded chipbard board base on a very early Series III and plywood in a steel angle frame. Trim clips hold the vinyl to the steel frame, I'll track one of my FFR seats down and take a picture later in the week.
I think the rubber buffers are at the rear

The plywood with the strips of timber look like my Series II/IIa seats.
